I'd try the 168g Sierra Matchking with IMR7828. My 7mm RM likes 68g and a Federal 215M primer....

As always, work up. My Browning has a slightly large chamber, so your rifle may hit pressure signs earlier.

Cheers,

Dan

I think the short answer is that the 7mm RM is just noted as a long range round. If that's your game then get a 300WM which IS noted as a long range round (there are several others).

My 7 rem. mag. liked 168 Sierra's with imr 7828 or rl-22 with fed 215 primers until i shot the barrel out. It's now waiting it's turn to be re-barreled.

I'm just about to post a question about some loaded ammo produced by The Hunting Shack out of Montana.

My load is RE-19, 168g Berger VLD and a Gm215M.

I get 2990 FPS (chronied) and half MOA accuracy.

We all hope for you too. 500, 800, 1000 yards are a LOT longer than a lot of people think! Just grasping for a load on the board and then loading it for your rifle is quite meaningless. Yes it gives you a starting point, a "Charlies's rifle shot this one good" point to look at but WHAT IT DOES IN YOUR RIFLE is what you are looking for! And as far as 500, 800, 1000 yards for game...............KNOW YOUR RIFLE INTIMATELY!! Why injure or maim any game!!!???????????? Don't take the shot if you aren't capable of it! Throwing copper plated lead projectiles downrange at ridicoulous distances at living, breathing animals is ludicrous unless your are proficient in your quest. And 500, 800, 1000 yards takes some practice on NON-LIVING targets..........a whole lot of practice!! Don't mean to come off or sound like a "greenie" but your original question led me to the answer. Im sorry I didnt make myself clear. I will be shooting paper targets at groundhog match ranges. I shoot a load {168 berger 73gr retumbo}now that does a good job, thought I might tap the unlimited resouces on this board.

My BDL likes 79 grains of AA 8700 behind 162-grain Nosler SBs, lit with a Federal 215. I have to believe your rifle would shoot the same charge with the 168 and do quite well. 8700 is so slow I don't believe you would see any pressure problem, but you would want to start a few grains below that and work up, just to be safe...

Retumbo and RL 25 are my go to powders using CCI 250 in the heavier 7mm RM. I don't think you'll beat the match Bergers for accuracy at long range.

my best load for a browning a-bolt is lost river or barnes tsx 160 grain bullet, 62.0 g imr 4831 norma brass cci br-2 primers.the lost rivers shoot .35 at 200 yards consistantly but copper fouling is a problem after 10 rounds or so. the boss is set at 4.1 for 160 g bullets.

168 to 180 gr berger's RL 22-25 H1000. Peter, 7mm mag not a long range round? The heavey 7's are very high B.C.'s and velocity.

My favorite long range (800+) load for my 7 RM is real hot load of IMR7828 with Berger 168s.

Morepower, sorry I missed your post. I have a 7RM and posted some time ago for loads using the Berger 168gr. VLD hunting bullets. No response! I would certainly like to try them. I do not have IMR 7828.
