I have been shooting the 20gr. VMax out of a #4Douglas barreled L46 sinlge shot Sako for a couple of years. My load is the VMax molycoated on top of 24.5grs of IMR4320 using CCI benchrest primers. MV is 4140fps. And will shoot .375-.625inch 5 shot groups. Most of my shooting is at ground squirrels, with some rockchucks and magpies thrown in the mix. That little bullet is like a lazer beam. My rifle wears a KT15X Weaver and I can watch the hits because of no recoil. Seems like when I squeeze the trigger the bullet is already there. Squirrels just dissappear in a red mist. The bigger chucks are just as dead but still have some form of a body left. I have fired up to fifty rounds without cleaning the barrel with no noticeable effect. Pete

I also am a coyote caller and as much as I like the 17s I don't take them out after coyotes anymore. I've had too many take off after a marginal hit or even show no signs of being hit with a lung shot. Since the 17s don't leave any blood trail it can be next to impossible to recover a dog in sage or tall grass. For calling I'll take my 22/250, 220Swift, or 6mm. Call em in close_____Pete
