I have a Schultz & Larson 7X61 Sharp&Hart.I loaded up some standard brass with a very light load of 4350 and had trouble removing the cases. Is there a difference between the 7X61 super case and the regular one. anyone have any reloading info on this caliber. Thanks

wildcater: Yes there is a difference between 7x61 S&H original brass and 7x61 Super brass. The differences are all internal and the Super brass has more volume so loads can be a bit heavier than with the original brass. Not sure what you meant by a "mild load" . My Schultz accepts quite heavy loads without a problem with extraction. As a matter of practice I usually back off a couple of grains from max as that seems to be where accuracy is best. I've found IMR4831, H4831 and a couple of the Reloader powders to work best. Schultz chambers are usually quite tight in comparison to some of the custom chambers found in N.A. RCBS advised me there are some variations between rifles principally chambered in Europe and rifles chambered by gunsmiths on this side of the pond. Enough difference that the RCBS standard forming dies wouldn't form cases I could use and I had to return them wiyh fired cases for custom fitting. By comparison one other poster in this forum says he can form cases from 264 brass in his normal full length sizing die. I suspect American standards for the reamer were made to permit this easy case conversion. The cartridge is really quite efficient in terms of case volume/velocity produced.

Wildcater What was your "Very light load "of 4350? in grs. Light loads of any slow burning powder are not normally a good idea. I have used reg 7x61 cases ,7x61 super and cases made from 300 H&H and from 7mm rem mag brass. Max loads vary about 2 or 3 grs so I don't think that is your problem. Did you ream the necks ? A little more information would be helpful
