140 gr. Sierra boattail bullet, 57.5 gr. of H4831, Winchester case, CCI 200 or Federal 210 primer, full length sized case, loaded to 3.35 in. overall length, and crimped with Lee Factory Crimp Die. Four different 3-shot, 100 yard groups in a Browning BBR bolt action rifle with factory 22 in. barrel and factory wood stock, and a 4X scope gave me: 1.27 inch, 0.91 in., 0.75 in., and 0.60 in. I don't know the velocity. [This message has been edited by LE270 (edited 12-05-2001).]

Sounds a little light, I use 58gr of H4831 with a 150gr, will do 3000fps in my 24" Mauser

quote: Yes, I agree that it's light. It was my starting load for this bullet, and I was very happy that the Browning rifle likes it so much. My Remington 700 Mountain Rifle (22 in. barrel) did not do as well with it in terms of accuracy -- that rifle seems to like 130 grain bullets better. I think my Remington .270 has a slow barrel because I've never been able to get a consistent 3000 f.p.s. from any load in it using 150 gr. bullets. Even my 130 gr loads, using what the loading manuals list as max loads of IMR or H 4350 or 4831, although quite accurate, frequently do not reach 3000 f.p.s.

I have a Mark X manlicher with a 20" barrel that can exceed 3000fps with a 130gr. [This message has been edited by GSF1200 (edited 12-21-2001).]
