My favorite load for the 300 Win Mag is; 200 grain Nosler Partition 74.0 grains H4831SC CCI-250 primers R-P cases OAL- 3.35".
With this load I get 2780 fps from my custom 1917 Enfield rifle. This load shoots just at 1" groups. About the best I have gotten form this rifle to date. IMR-4350 has also done well in this rifle, slightly higher velocity, 1.5" groups.

One of my friends has just gone to Africa for 6 months with a 300 win mag.(Ruger No 1) He spent the last 2 months on load development and found Re19,CCI 250,s and the 200g Partition the best of the bunch. The load was shooting 1MOA at 200 yards. I tried ringing him but cannot get through so unfortunately I cant find out what the powder charge was. I hope the above is some help. Rob T.

I was really hoping for a 180 grain or even a Barnes 165 grain load for the 300.The deer here in TN do not run big.But Thanks,I will keep those for future reference.
I've been loading the 300 Winmag for over ten years now. Tried almost every bullet out there. For deer size game or any thing else for that matter you want to stick with the 180 and over weights. The lighter stuff just will not hold together up close. That is unless you are shooting one of the new bonded style bullets. My re-worked Ruger77 loves swift scirocco in 180gr. And they are one tough bullet, Sub MOA is not uncommon and retained weight is in the 80% range. My favorite powder is H4831 @ 74grns. Reloader 22 is also very good. I have found IMR4350 to reach pressure cap before any velocity gain at least in my rifle. Also Max load for H4831 with a 200 grainer is 72 grains (by the book)so work up carefully. I live out here in Colorado have shot Elk,Deer and Antelope all with the 180 grainer's no damaged to the tasty parts and it puts them down hard. Good luck with your quest, the 300 is a great cartridge.
Here is a load that shoots subMOA at 150 meters in my gun (custom Argentine Mauser): 72.0 grains I.M.R. 4350, Federal 215 primer, Hornady Interlock SP 180 grains bullet. Velocity is 3.093 f.p.s, barrel length 22.5 inches. Approach with caution, it is a maximum. Ive a three shot group which measures 0.35" center to center of the widest holes.

I just found a sweet load for 7mm STW. It is RETUMBO - 81 gr./145gr. Speer GS. It shoots 1.75" at 300 yards. in my Weatherby AccuMark. Speed is 3365. This ought to knock the socks off a deer or black bear no matter where he's standing.
In my 7mm STW (Savage 116 SS) is shoot 139 gr. Hornady SST's, Federal 215 Magnum primers, and 71.7 gr. of H4831. Get .87 inch groups at 100 yds, and velocity of 3125.

My favorite 300 mag load for moose is 200gr Nosler Part--74gr IMR 7828--CCI250--RP case OAL 3.435. Vel is 2905ft/sec. Good accurate load. It is a max load in my 24" barrel BSA.Another good load is 180 Barnes XLC 79gr RL 22--CCI 250 Fed case OAL 3.435. Vel runs 3127ft/sec.Remember this is a coated bullet therefore more powder can be used. Again max load in 24" barrel BSA.-----------A good load for the 7mmSTW is 175gr Hornady Interlock-77grs RL22--Fed 215-RP case-OAL 3.673. Vel is 3064 from Rem 700 with 24" barrel. Again this is a max load in my rifle. Friend of mine bagged a bull moose with this load last year.

Layne Simpson data for 7stw- and 140 gr bullets== 83 gr Imr-7828 with 139 Hornady interlock and the cheap 140 corelokts that blow to pieces but good for rabbits and doggies, just like the 139 sst and nosler-ballistic hunting bullets also fly apart. I hit 3530-3550 av.fps out of my Accumark. Have used the 150 Scirocco for 4 elk,-3 neck shots and One I hit just below the eyes and took the whole upper jaw right off. Left empty eye sockets and sounded like another rifle went off when the bullet hit. Had to load it the 150 Scirocco down to 79.5gr of 7828 cause of the long bearing surface. Tried it at 81.5 first cause there was no loading data for the Scirocco when it came out, was to hot blew firing pin holes in the primers. The 160 gr bullets== listed were around that same load level. But sold all them after trying the 165 Interbond in my 300wby and got 700 139gr Interbonds for the 7stw, the Interbonds are as accurate as the Scirocco and 1/2 the price.
Thought I would pass a 7STW load that I tried last night.78 grains of Retumbo and a 160 grain Accubond produced a .427 100 yard group, tried 3 other groups with the same bullet and different weights of the Retumbo powder and all shot under an inch.Could not get 140 and 150 grain Partitions to shoot under 1 1/4" using the same powder.
