Hello from Scotland~ I own a Marlin .444ss 22" Micro-groove made in 1988. I only resently bought it 169 ! Excellant condition real bargin. Wanted a .444p as i wanted to muck about with heavy hard cast gas checked bullets, but the British importer is worse than useless ! I was lucky to find this second hand example as levers and big bores are not common in Britain. Started casting with the lee 310 mould producing 325 gn bullets with wheel weights. Had some H4895 left over and work out/up 50-51 gn load under my 325gn hard cast gas cheched bullets sized to 0.430 both sized and crimped with Lee equipment. No signs of excess pressure, "IN MY RIFLE" no leading either to my great pleasure. I have only used this load at the range at 200 yard with scope it shot better than i could say 2.5" -3" Dont you believe cast wont shoot well in micro-groove barrels. Fantastic noise, guys marking in the butts all said its the loudest gun, and it kicks hard, boy its great just hang on and squeeze the trigger !!!! Every one whos fired it couldnt help but smile, even those who refused a second shot ! Reckon the bullet must be close to 2000 f.p.s i will have to borrow a chrono and find out . Any way this load feels like it would fell any thing on the planet ! I have started working with N133 and water quenched 300 + grain bullets, will keep you posted................. Got any favorite .444 Loads ??? Englander | ||
