What are the most accurate 357 loads for a colt python 6" barrel. I am also interested in using this pistol for deer hunting. Any load recommendations?
If you are talking factory loads the heavy bullet in the Federal's or any hot load with bullet of 158 grains or higher bullet weight should work for close shots! I say close because if you are asking this question, you are not going to have time to shoot enough to get REAL comfortable with the gun by the time season rolls around. You are going to have to test them and see which does best out of your gun! LouisB Just an opinion of course

here's another opinion-(you know what they say about opinions!)I have a Ruger New Model Blackhawk and here are a couple of loads I've used;5.3 grains Unique pushing a 148 gr lwc,or same powder with a 160 gr swc.Also,4.7 grains of Accurate #2(imp) with a 160 gr swc.I don't hunt with this, so I don.t know if these are good loads for hunting.
In my Colt Python 4" I used 17 grains of H2400 under a Speer 140 grainer JHP. Chrono velocity is 1340 fps. The load is superbly accurate capable of cloverleafs at 20 yds. Very powerful load and flat shooting.
