I own a Siamese Mauser,originally 45-70, which is now
chambered in 45-90. The problem is I can't find any
loads for a modern rifle in this caliber.

Anyone out there shoot 45-90 in a modern rifle which
is capable of firing high intensity loads?

I'm looking for imformation for a 405 gr. cast gas check.

A bit off topic, but what are you using for a stock for your Siamese Mauser? I have one chambered to .450 Alaskan and it needs a decent stock. Thanks in advance.

Put me on the list for "looking." I have a decent walnut stock on mine, but I would like a good synthetic..

I got a nice semi inlet for mine a couple years back from Great American Gunstocks, they had it in stock, ready to go. Richards Microfit also offers them, but I think they're "special order". I don't think you'll find a synthetic specifically for the Siamese 98.

I do have some data on the 45-90 from a special issue of Rifle mag on Lever Guns. It has jacketed bullet data pertinent to the Win M1886, so it will be a bit conservative. They list loads for the 300 gr Win HP, 300 gr Partition, 405 gr Remington, 300 gr Barnes FN, 350 gr Hawk. This data is with smokeless powder.

They also have some BP data for the 45-90, but I don't think that's what you want.

This is easy. Start with Ruger No. 1 .45/70 data, and develop custom loads for your rifle from there, up until you get all the recoil you can handle. I have a No. 1 in .45/70. It produces more than enough recoil fom me just shooting a Barnes Original 400-grain semispitzer at a mere 2270 FPS MV. I could not stand it any higher!!!
