Rifle: 416 Rigby Dakota 76 with 24" barrel

400 grain Barnes XLC (blue coated)
96.0 grs H4350
Velocity = 2447fps; SD=4
Remarks: shoots <1/2 MOA @ 100yards

410 grain Woodleigh Solid
96.0 grs H4350
Velocity = 2427fps; SD=7
Remarks: shoots <1 MOA @ 100 yards

In my rifle the 400 grain X-bullet shoots 1-1/2" above the 410 grain Woodleigh Solid. My scope and iron sights are zeroed for the 410 grain Woodleigh Solid load, which puts the 400 Barnes X load +1-1/2" at 100 yards. I will use this combination in Tanzania this year.

In .416 caliber:
400 grain SD= .330
410 grain SD= .338

Unless SD means something other than Sectional Density.

Now that you tell me it seems obvious, having posted it after the velocities. Thanks for setting me straight.

John,
SD = standard deviation in this case. Usually the lower the standard deviation (SD) is, the more accurate the load.
