rcamugliaTalk to me about the 7 RUM
What's THE load?
21 February 2009, 21:19
Henry HooverTHE load in my rifle might be the NOT load in yours but heres a try.
140gr AB 91grs imr 7828 cci 250
150gr NBT 96gr Retumbo Fed 215
160gr sie BTHP 88gr imr 7828 cci 250
The 140 and 160 loads are shot in my 700 and are VERY accurate.
The 150gr loads are in my hunting buddys 700 CDL. They AVERAGE just under one and one half inch at 300yds! HE has a nikon buckmaster with the BDC. Zeroed dead on at 300 on 18 power, his first circle is dead on at 400 seconed at 500 third at 600. This is not calculated this is shot on several occasions. With no wind. Still have one circle left, maybe 750.Hope this helps.Good luck. Henry

ROSCOEI believe I had the best results with H869….I believe that is the powder that replaced 870? Anyhow in my rifle it shot better than Retumbo with 140 grain bullets. I ran into pressure issues prior to reaching the max loads in the Hogden load data however velocity as I remember was on par with max listed loads. My rifle is a Remington 700 factory gun.

Canadian reloarderMy son has a 7mmRUM that I reload for. Since it is used primarly for moose hunting we went with a 175 gr Partion. We used 97grs of H5010, a Fed 215 and got MOA accuracy. Our vel is 3125 ft/sec from a 26" barrel

youngoutdoorsA buddy of mine at Remington told me once that they only recommended IMR7828. Had to do with the pressure curve. Some powders caused small dents in the shoulder of the cases. Good Luck, Louis

rcamugliaThanks Gentlemen,
I had a feeling that the cartridge would be similar in it's preferences to the .264 Win Mag....
