For 150 grain bullets in the 30-06, I think the best powder is IMR 4064. Depending on your rifle and bullet, you should be able to go up to 53 grains. Again, depending on your rifle and barrel length, this will give velocities in the range of 3000 to 3100 f.p.s.

I just happen to have some IMR 4064 and Varget as well. I'll try the 4064 first then the Varget. I guess the H414 may be a little slow. Thanks for the input.

20 years ago I started loading this round and has not changed. It has worked well in 10 or more different rifles with the groups ranging from 1/2" to 13/4" at 100 yards. Zero 11/2" high at 100 yrds and anything out to 275 yrds just shoot and it is yours. Any shot in or close to the boiler room is a kill. I use federal or remington brass and full length resize. Only reload the brass 4 times 3 if once fired. IMR 4831 59 grains Speer 150 grain BT #2022. WLR primer. appox. velocity 2875 fps. This is a lightly compressed load. We have two hanging and were one shot kills. Good hunting and shooting. jimjam
Gotta cast my vote for the IMR4064. Used it for years and it's very consistent. Lately, though, I've been having excellent results with IMR4350, so either of those should work for you.
Been using this one, about 10 to 1 over all other loads, for the past 16 years.
Remington nickel-plated cases. Remington 9 1/2 M (magnum) primer. 59.0 grains IMR-4350. 150 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip.
Works VERY well in every gun I ever tried it in. Very accurate, hits hard. Almost all critters (deer, hogs, coyotes, about a train-car load) succumbed to one shot. Contrary to what most people say, almost all of my shots with Ballistic Tips DO create an exit wound. Not that it's needed. 90+% fall in their tracks, another 9% fall within sight. VERY seldom have to work a blood trail. Good luck !!!!!

actually 156gr cast,12gr. red dot,wlr,rem cases,this is the Lee bullet designed for 7.62x39.either one.try it for accuracy,I bet you like it.no one said high powered 30-06 load,did they?if so,heavy load of IMR 4350,sierra flat base,rem cases,wlr.good hunting.
Just got back from the range trying a new load for Remington 700 ADL in .30-06. Smallest 3-shot group @ 100 yards was .389" with the average being around .55"
2X Reminton Case (neck sized only) CCI BR2 Primer Hornady 150 grn. SST 62 grains H4350 (compressed load) OAL: 3.235"
Velocity is listed as 3068 fps. but don't have a chronograph to check it. It's definitely a thumper though! Hope this helps.
150 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip, 52 gr of IMR-4064, Fed LR primer, Winchester cases = under 1/2 groups at 100 yards from an original barrel on a 1903 Springfield MK1.
I use H-414 myself,You might want to start a little lower than 57grs. as mine are near thier max at this charge with the 150 gr bullets that I have uesd,Speer isn't one of them however. Rem.Cases,WLR Primier and 56 grs for the Sierra Pro Hunter 2900,Nosler Parttion and Ballistic Tip at 2950 and Barnes X at 3000.Winchester cases add 1 gr.
IMR- 4064,4831 and 4350,RL-19 and 22 and H-4831 & 4350 as well as Win-760 are all good choices.

I use 61gns. of RL 19 and 150gn. Sierra B.T. Don't forget and reduce the load to around 55 or 56gns. and start working up. I also like IMR 4350 start around 53 to 54gns and work up.

Reloader 19 and IMR 4064 have been very good in all my 06s. Recently bought an 8lb keg of AA4064 from Natches shooters supply and this has also worked very well.Hornady SST bullets seem to shoot very well in my guns.
Excellent accuracy with a 150gr Hornady Spire Point and 52 grains of IMR 4064 and WLR primer. 53 grains of the powder was even more accurate, but resizing the cases was very difficult, and the primers showed evidence of too much of a good thing.

I"ve loaded 150 grain Hornady SP's backed by 58.5 grains of Accurate Arms 4350 and Winchester Large Rifle Primers . I seem to have great results with Remington 150 grain PSP CORE-LOCKS . But then what do I know , I'm just a guy with a freezer full of meat. GOOD LUCK !
