I am interested in any loads for a 300 win mag. I have a box of 180 gr Speer SBT & 180 gr Speer spitzers as well. For powder I have 4831 & RL 22. I have been using the recipies from either the Speer or Nosler books with good results. Is there any good possibilities

I'm using 72 grains of IMR4350, Winchester Magnum primers, Winchester brass, and Hornady 180 gr SP's. This load shoots 0.5" at 100 yards. My rifle perfers the Hornady bullet as far as accuracy is concerned.

75 to 76 grs. of RL-22 has always been the most accurate and gives me the highest velocity in my sons and other 300 Win. Magnums....The good 180 gr. Nosler does well on deer to moose...

CCI-BR2 Primer
Norma Case

ttmr2...you didnt mention what you were shooting, paper or game, but for the range, you will be hard pressed to find a more accurate bullet than the Match King..
This bullet and RL22, is awsome at the range!!!
I shoot 180gr. and 150gr. MK's with terrific results.....sakofan... [Smile]

I know you didn't list IMR-4350 but that powder has given me and a few others the best results, both for accuracy and velocity. I loaded 71gr. with either a 180gr. Hornady SP or Speer Grand Slam for a velocity around 3075fps and 3 shot groups at or just under 1 moa. The rifle was a Ruger M77RS with a 24" barrel. RL22 was a close second, velocities were a bit higher but the accuracy was not quite as good. FWIW!

I've recently started using RL-22 in my 300WinMag. So far the 200gr Nosler Partition grouped well, using 70gr of RL-22. The 220gr NosPart was good as well, with 67gr RL-22.

I've also had great success with AA3100. 70gr behind the 168gr MatchKing has been good for 1/4 - 1/2" at 100 yards.
Until I realized that the GameKing wasn't recommended at such speeds, the 180gr GK with 72.6gr AA3100 shot quite well. I will be working up to that charge behind a 180gr NosPart soon.

Other powders worth considering for a 180-grain bullet in the .300 Winchester Magnum:

75 grains H4831

73 grains IMR4831

Both are outstanding, with the IMR load being a trifle more accurate so far in my experience.

180 grain Sierra Pro Hunter, Win Case, CCI 250, 70 grains of IMR 4350.

In a snug chambered 300 Win Mag, 26 inch No. 3 Pac Nor barrel, M700, McMillan stock, pillar bedded. 3x9 Zeiss Conquest. Talley mounts with 8-40 screws. Action trued, lugs lapped.

Bullets seated 0.010" off the lands. The reamer is ground correctly for proper seating of the bullet in the case.

0.240" group at 100 yards today at the range. New barrel: Fired two shots to sight in the scope, then switched paper and shot the 0.240" group.

The rifle will shoot a smaller group with someone better than I holding the gun,as I was looking through vari-lux glasses lenses, and watching the crosshairs jiggle on the target.

Anyone used this bullet on game? First time I used the Pro Hunter for test firing, I am interested in how it performs on game.

As my .300 is like a lot of em and likes it close to the wall I'd rather not mention powder weight, each firearm is differant, hot in one might be explosive in another. Having said that, I've found RL22 to be the best powder, I use Hornadys 190gr BTSP Interlock, CCI250 primer,in weight segregated cases with primer pockets uniformed and flash holes reamed. This load has repeatedly chronographed at 3,040ish fps. I shoot a Rem. BDL pillar bedded, recrowned, and triggerworked to 3lbs. A Leupold 3.5X10 Vari X III sets on top and this rifle consistantly shoot .5 to.75 inch groups. I've taken a number each of elk, whitetails, mulies, and antelope and never been disappointed with the rifle or load.---Shoot Safe---montdoug

I am shooting a Sierra 190MK with Winchester cases, Winchester magnum primers and 71.0 grains of AA 3100. Bullets are seated to touch the rifling. This load chrono's 2985 outta my 26" Rem 700 Sendero. Three shot groups are running a consistent 3/8" @ 150 yards. Nothing great but i am working on it! [Big Grin]
