Mark, Post the same question on the Single Shot Pistols forum down below. First things first. Go to www.bellmtcs.com and read everything you can for reloading break action single shot rifles and pistols. Wish I ‘d started there. It’ll save you a lot of mistakes (and time and money). Mike Bellm is an authority on these guns (even more so than T/C). I have a 24” Encore rifle. IMHO, pistol loads and rifle loads should be treated as two totally different animals. However, my load of 139 grain Hornady SST over a hefty charge of Hodgdon Varget does extremely well in my gun. That said, if I were loading for a pistol, I’d try Varget powder first. You should also consider soft bullets such as Nosler’s ballistic tip, Sierra’s SSP bullet, and even Hornady’s SST for use in the short barrel to maximize expansion. Hope this helps.
