My rifles shoot best with 140 gr bullets and imr 7828.My max load in one rifle is 80gr and 78 gr for the other rifle. Both shoot 1/2" groups with this load and velocity runs around 3500 fps.

Hi, I'm new to the forum. I've had very good luck with the following and 140 gr. ballistic tips: 79 gr.- IMR 7828 Both of these loads shoot 1/2 in. or better groups.Use caution and work up to these loads.

In my 700, I use RL25 with 160-175 gr bullets, and 7828 with the 140's. So far, these have worked the best. - Dan

Dan Belisle, what are your velocity using 160 to 175 grain bullets? Which brands of bullet are you using?

3200 with the 160's and 3100 with the 175's. The 160's are Failsafes, Nosler Partitions, and Barnes X. The 175's are Nosler Partitions and Sierra's. 79 gr of RL25 with the 175's and and 81 gr of RL25 with the 160's. With the 140's the bullets are Barnes X (all X bullets are the uncoated ones)and the load is 79 gr. of 7828 for 3300 fps. The rifle has a 24" inch barrel (I rechambered a Rem 7 mag back when the STW was still a wildcat). It makes a great wheat field deer gun. Leuopold 6X on it and it does well. - Dan
