Looking for an accurate load shooting semi-WC at paper, hogs, and coyotes~!

Hard not to find one.

Take what powder you have load it up to the velocity you want and shoot it.

I have found 38 357 mag carbines very easy to load and accurate.

If using cast bullets one might have to powder coat them to handle the in crease of velocity.

One of my favorite is 2grs of red dot for 880fps out of a 22 inch barrel.

One bullet on top of each other at 50 yards. sounds like you are using a suppressor.

Out of a 26 inch will even be quieter.

I found pistol bullets out of a carbine at higher velocities not to have the greatest penetration.


Very careful shot placement is required on larger game.

A 125gr JHP at max velocity blows big holes in coyotes.

The rile is an original 1885 Winchester that has had the barrel relined to .38 Spl. I picked .38 Spl over the .357 because the .357 causes too much pressure for a rifle this old. It was made in 1892. Thanks for your response~!

I would look for data with 100 % prop. Burnt and low muzzle pressure.

The rile is really a sweet one. I got a real deal on it since the bore was shot and the stock had a serious crack in the wrist just behind the tang. I first addressed the crack and sent it to a guy who did a very nice repair but his refinish was horrible. I next sent it to a guy who relined the barrel. When I got it back I pulled the butt stock an forearm and tackled the complete refinish on my own. I stripped it down to bare wood and took my time with boiled linseed oil, first coats heavily diluted with paint thinner. Each successive coat received less and less dilution until I got to straight bol. 10 to 12 more coats and I was finished. I was surprised to find nice figuring in what was an entry level rifle. I'm really happy with this one and will never sell it.

As you can see it more about what power you have on hand and and can get.

Having loaded many 10's of thousands if not over 100 thousand rounds in 38spl cases.

It is a cartridge that is easy to load for and normally very accurate.

Should be a dream to shoot in your rifle.

Don't forget the old stand buy's red dot, green dot, herco, bullseye ect.
