I’m in need of a recipe for the Hornady (.358) Interlock 250 Grain Round Nose #3525 for the 35 Whelen.
I can’t find a load specifically for this bullet. I’m trying to reproduce the discontinued Remington 250 RN cartridges that are long gone.
Accurate lists it in one of there lists but not with the power/s I would like to use.

I do have one box of those R35WH2. Remington called them 250 Grain Soft Point. I don’t know if they were Core Lokt or somebody else’s bullet. I believe I purchased them around 1990. I would get ¾ inch group at a 100yd with their factory rounds in my Model 700 Classic with a Leupold 3.5 – 10 Vari-x-3, this was my first 35 Whelen Classic.

So can anyone point me in the right direction for info in loading this brut?

Thank you,
It seems as though the R15 is one of the slowest burning powders for the Whelen but the most preferred.

IMR 4064
Varget

The middle of the road respectively with H-4895 faster and the IMR-3031 even faster than that.

Also on the Remington Web site the 200 & 250 Gr use a 9 ½ M = Magnum Primer. But in My Lyman 48th Addition it only lists Remington 9 ½ Primers non- magnums is that not crazy?

I hunted this year with 250's (speer sp and Hdy rn) and IMR 4064. Remington cases and winchester large rifle primers. I don't know how fast. Recoil was significant. Both bullets shot to the same point. I also worked up a load for Reloader 15, but I had 8 pounds of IMR 4064.

For what it's worth, I have a chart that lists the burn rate for 173 powders. Each powder is given a No. from 1 through 173 with 1 being the fastest burning and 173 being the slowest. The powders listed in this thread would be assigned as follows:

RL-7 (93), IMR-3031 (94), BLC-2 (105), RL-12 (113), H-4895 (114), Varget (117), IMR-4064 (120), IMR-4320 (123), RL-15 (129), H-380 (130), IMR-4350 (137), H-4350 (140).

The fastest powder listed is R-1 (Norma), the slowest is 20N29 (Vihtavuori)

If someone has a powder that they would like to know where it fits, let me know.
