I'm about ready to load up some 300 Win Mag with 180 grain TSX and some 270 Win Mag with 130 grain TSX. For powder I have RL-22, H4831, H4831SC, and H4350.

Please let me know if you are shooting some combination of these and what is working best with you.

Thanks.

I see you have had no responses. I have NOT had good luck with the 180 TSX's in my 300WM (either of them!). I have had better luck with the 168gr, TSX's curiously enough. The best bullets I have found for my 300WM is still the Nosler Partition 180 gr. I am still trying with the 180 TSX'x though, so, if you find something good, let me know!

I'll let you know in a couple of weeks. I'm just going to use the Barnes 3 book loads for 180 grain X bullets and RL-22 powdwer.

Curiously, I couldn't get the 180 grain Partitions to shoot worth a spit in my 300 WM.

300 win: 74 gr RL 22, Fed match 215s, Lapua brass, 180gr TSX get me 3000fps on the button, 1/2in groups.

270 win: 56 gr IMR 4831, Fed match 210s, RWS brass, 130 gr TSX get 3000 fps and better than 1/2in groups.

P.S. I am not a fan of partitions, the same exact load does a shade under 1in in my 300 win.

Interesting FMC. Your load of 74 Grs. RL22 is nowhere near max. I was lead to believe that TSX's should be shot at near max loads. This load is actually my accuracy load for the 180 Partition!

Hey slatts

300 win mag 180 gr TSX 76.5 gr RL22 Norma brass Fed 215M 3123 fps

270 win 130 gr TSX 57 gr IMR4350 Norma brass Fed 210M 3057 fps

Usual caveat, start lower and work up.

But my hunting loads in those 2 calibers are:

300 win mag 200 gr Accubond 72 gr RL22 Norma brass Fed 215M 2911 fps

270 win 140 gr TSX 57 gr IMR4831 Norma brass Fed 210M 3120 fps

Only use 69 gr of Rel 22 and 180 TSX, but Wildebeest and Kudu ... bang - flop.

Terry,

How did you decide to go with such a light load (69gr) of R22 behind a 180 gr TSX? How does it group? The minimum load in Barnes 3 for the original X bullet is 70.5gr with a max of 75.5. The little pamplet in the TSX boxes says you can usually go 1 to 2 grains above those listed for the original X bullets working up carefully

I'm about ready to seat 180gr TSX in some charged cases ranging from 72.5 to 77.0 grains of R-22. Hopefully I will get to the range this weekend and find some tight groups.

Those numbers are quite a bit higher than what is listed in my Lyman manual. For R22 & 180 x bullet is list's a starting of 64gr. & a max of 73.5gr.

I'm in the process of reloading for the first time, trying to figure exactly what to start with. Now I'm not sure. I guess I should take a look at the Barnes book.

Today I shot the 300 WM into a 3/4-inch group of 5 rounds with 75.0 grains of RL-22 behind the 180 TSX. Very nice load. I'm psyched!

How did I arrive at this load? I was loading some 220 gr soft points with 69 gr of Rel 22, so thought Id just start with that load an see what happens.

It shot so well, I never went any higher, and the game never knew the differnce.

168 grains Barnes x bullet with 72 grains Reloader 22. Also 150 grains Hornady Interbond with 72 grains Reloader 22 shot very well in my 300 win mag. Tried 150 grains Barnes XXX with 72 grains Reloader and it was not as accurate as the other two bullets.
