I'm just finished building a 300SAUM as a light rifle shooting preferably 165-170grain projectiles.

What loads have worked for any of you?

300WSM data is welcome too Big Grin

I have 2 rifles in 300 saum and i think it is a great caliber. Real accurate!
I use 168 triple shock with imr 4350, also 180 accubonds with imr 4350.
My favorite load is 150 accubond with rl 15 or imr 4064, also 150 gr hornady's. I tried some rl 17 and it shows promise jumped the 150 grainers 80 - 100 fps.
Good luck with your rifle.

olrvat,

Mate you are a champ!

Can't get IMR 4350 here but can get RL powders and VN N550 which is almost the same burn rate.

Thanks for replying thumb

Blair,
Me too on the IMR4350, 67 gr pushing the 165 TSX w/ fed 215m primers in my WSM.
One side note: If you're thinking about Barnes bullets, they come in 165 & 168. I tried the 168's loaded close to the lands-they shot great but wouldn't fit in the magezine. The small print says that the 165s have a shorter ogive and are meant for the short magazined short mags.
Or maybe shoot as a single shot... Cool

Hi all,

Yesterday, I found a good load, a very good load for the 300 SAUM...

Barnes TTSX 168gr
64-65gr RL-17... (64.5 work best for me, .4" @ 100) yards.
Fed GM215M primer
COL: 2.825
3114 fps with 64,5gr, and max of 3198 fps with 65gr with no pressure sign... (But it was cold and humid outdoor) when the temp will get warmer, I'm sure it will be even better...

Try it guys, you will be extremely pleased...

According Barnes #4, the max velocity with this bullet WAS 3008 fps with 65,5gr of RL-19... Big Grin

I am an advocate of the .300 RSAUM. I have 4 rifles in it. All have 1 in 10 twist. I like to shoot 'heavy for caliber bullets' so I use 200 gr. SMK, 210 gr. Berger's, 200 gr. Grand Slam's and 208 gr A-max. I have found the heaver bullets are more accurate than lighter ones.
Try 59 gr. H4350, mag primer, w/ 208 A-max or 210 Bergers. No problem hitting a 6" bull @ 700 yds. 60 gr. of N160 works well with the 200 grainers. My best groups were with 62gr. H4831SC, 1/2" @ 100yds. CAUTION this is a max load don't start there, work up to it.

All the above was shot thru a heavy, 26" barrel.

The one problem I have with it is case elongation. Watch your trim lenght closely. They really like to grow. I have only used Rem. brass, so far.
