George you probably need to be more specific eg. light, midrange, heavy, as well as specifying bullet weight eg. 240 or 300 gr. cast or jacketed. Tell us what gun you have. I am not going to recommend my heavy Ruger 300 grain loads if you have a S&W for example (and I have both).
Welcome to the forum.

George, I will have to look up my loads but, for hunting you might want to consider the 300 gr. hard cast using a healthy dose of H110. You can do a Google search on Linebaugh and find his recommendations. H110 seems the way to go with heavy cast bullets. It gives higher velocities and reasonable pressures. I believe the W296 is very similar, but I use the H110. Look up the Hodgdons web site as well. They should have some load information.
Peter.

My favorite load, that works well in my contender is 22.6 gr. WW296 using a LBT LFN 300gr. bullet that casts at 315grains.

My most accurate, and go to load, is 24.5 grains of H110 with a 240 grain cast bullet. 1411 fps in my Ruger 7 1/2 barrel. This is a heavy load so WORK UP to it and use extreme caution, practicing accepted reloading techniques. While functioning well in my gun, I accept no responsibility for your use of this data.
Peter.

Agreed Buckeye. The only reason I posted the above load was that the original poster said he wanted to use a 240 grain bullet and he wanted it for hunting. My post stated: "most accurate go to load" ie. most accurate, high velocity load. I have zero interest in inaccurate high velocity loads. I have plenty of accurate, low or mid range loads. Unfortunately, I have none with 2400. Perhaps you could share some? I have both the Ruger and a S&W 629. Actually, my most accurate load is with the 300gr. cast bullet!
Peter.

Depends on what you are looking to do with the load, but as I have posted before in different threads, the late Finn Aagaard said he liked 11 grains of Accurate #5 behind a standard Keith style bullet of 240-250 grains. I adopted this load, and will probably never shoot anything else. It is mild, accurate as all get out, and just a really all around good load for deer or pigs.

Another load I have shot is 18 grains of AA #9 behind the same bullet, and 10 grains of Unique is okay, too.

Hope this helps.

320 gr LBT WLNGC or the Lee 310 gr with 21.5 gr's of 296, Federal 150 primer. I recently broke the 1" mark for 5 shots at 100 yd's, twice, with my SBH.

I use 23.5 grains of H-110 with a 240 grain Hornady XTP bullet, loaded in PMC cases fired by a LP Magnum primer. This seems like the best load in my Ruger Model 77/.44 Mag Rifle.

Kieth style SWC and 19gr 2400, good on hogs and deer. Shoot this in my brand new M29 with the 4" barrel. Much more pleasant than the old Kieth 22gr load. Then 10gr of Unique behind the same bullet. Mel Tappen and George Nonte turned me on to both loads. Good for the shorter barreled weapons, and more than adequate in the longer barrel pieces. Never got around to jacketed bullets, too busy shooting cast ones.

Clark,

I wans't aware that you had a 44 Rem Mag.. what brand is it?

I was looking at finally trading off a rifle and pick up a 629 S & W...I've wanted one since about 1985... just never got around to getting one...

Probably the 6 or 7.5 inch barrel if they are available in the latter..

Looked at the Ruger, but liked the S & W better...

For light loads in 7 1/2 SBH and 16" Winch. Trapper:

1)240grn Laser cast over 8 grn of Unique, they both love this load.

For heavy loads:

1)300grn Cast Performance WFNGCs over 19grn H110

2)300grn Hornady XTPs same H110 load

3)300grn Nosler JHPs over same H110 load

I try to keep the loads that shoot best out of both the SBH and Trapper. But the trapper really loves the Cast Perf. and Noslers the best. While the SBH likes the Hornady's. Anyway
just m 2 cents.
