I am looking for a good load using 4198. Anyone have any good results with these bullets?
They will shot out of a 10" contender.

Try 10gr of blue dot with those 35 V-maxs, works great with short barrels.

That is a damm good idea. I was thinking 4198 and such. I don't don't have any Dlue dot though so I'll have to look at the chart and see what I have that is close and work up a load.

I have lots of 2400 and after some searching I think 13g of 2400 should be the ticket. We will see.

Let us know how the 2400 works for you, I had my 223 out today, shooting 11.5 gr blue dot with the 35 gr v-max, while it is not the best shooting bullet in this rifle it sure opens up a crow. I have found that the cheap bulk 50 gr winchester psp from midway shoot as good if not better than 40 gr ballistic tips with the same 11.5 gr of bluedot.

Comming out of a 10" TC I think this 2400 or Dlue Dot idea might be the ticket. I was running the cases through the FL size die and the press broke. So I now have to weld it back together or get some aluminum and make a new base.

I was out playing with the 223 today with 11.5 gr blue dot and the 50 gr psp winchesters, and at these modest velocities 2750 fps i shot thru 6.5 inches of drift wood and recovered a classic mushroomed bullet weighing 38 gr!

The press broke, were you using a Lee press, they seemed to be prone to breaking on me too.

Yep. An old Lee. I busted out the welder and welded it back up. It works fine again.

Lucky,,you're on the right track using 4198,for that 35gr.pill,,,It's done the best in all of my pieces,,,14" super to 20" fast twist h-bar's,,1" - groups @100yds. are commonplace running that 35gr. bullet through a dillon 550 press.Sorry I forget the exact charge wt.. It's close to max though.Heavier than 55gr.,,the powders listed more for .308 will suit better aka.w748,imr4895,aa2460.Good Luck! clay

I decided to go with light and fast for the T/C since the 223, 22-250, and 25-06 will take care of the further stuff. I also don't have a good scope on the T/C so 100 is the max I'll really expect it to shoot. I have always like the 4198 for the 50's I have shot before but 35 is a big step down and wasn't sure how it would do. I used to shoot pound after pound of H380 out of the 250 with 55g bullets and the 1-14 barrel but with the 1-12 barrel and 60's is doesn't shoot for sh!t so I switched to W760 so bullet weight does make a difference. I am looking forward to giving the 2400 a try but expect that the 4198 might be what I end up useing again.
