Does anyone have a favorite load for the 165 GMX in the 30-06? I do not have the latest Hornady loading manual. Can it be loaded like the 165 Interlock?

Thanks

Last year I loaded the 150 GMX in my 30-06. At that time Hornady was recommending using a mid range load for a cup and core bullet as the max load for the GMX.

So no, it cant be loaded like the interlock. Max load for the GMX will be a couple of grains less.

I am sold on the GMX. It is an accurate and deep penetrating son of a gun. I found seating the bullet about .080 off the lands gave great accuracy in my rifle(seemed like way too much, UNTIL I shot it!)

I load 165 gr. Interlocks over 50 gr. of Varget, seated .020" off the lands in my M70 '06.

This load is 1/2 gr. off of the max. recommended load for this bullet. I've loaded a variety of 165's for multiple '06s with charges ranging between 48-50 gr. of Varget, and all showed respectable to to excellent accuracy.

As previously stated, I'd err on the side of safety and start at least a couple of grains lighter based on the construction of your chosen bullet.

I use AA4350. I talked to Hornady and the GMX can be loaded with the same data as the Interlock. My load for the 165 is a little over some of the books, at 57.5 grains, but it is very accurate.

The Hodgdon Reloading data website at www.hodgdon.com has data on the Gmax bullets in 3006. They list hodgdon, Winchester and IMR powders.

Speer, Sierra, Lyman, Hornady, Hodgdon have reliable reloading data. You won't find it on so and so's web page.
