I am returning home Wednesday from the slope and have waiting for me, a BSA Majestic in 458 Win Mag, 150 rounds of new brass and 250 Hornady 500 grain RN bullets. I have on hand RL7 and 10x, 4198, H322, H335, 3031, Trail Boss (for light loads), 2495, H4895 and probably a few others I'm not remembering. I am looking for favorite loads with that bullet. I'll not be loading any other bullets at this time since I have so many of the 500's. I suspect the 2495 and 4895 will be too slow for it though they work well in my 400 Whelen. I am also not concerned with extracting every last fps from it. If a load is accurate and 2000 fps I'll be happy. Thanks guys. "...I advise the gun. 75 grains of H-335 is a wonderfully accurate load in my 458 Win Mag under the 500 grain Partition bullet, I use W-W brass and a Fed-215 primer, it runs 2155 fps from the 24" barrel on my old FN 458 WM Browning rifle. IIRC Hodgdons website lists 1 grain more for the 500 grain bullets.

Thanks Jerry. H335 is high on my list to try. I thought I'd start around 71 and move up from there. "...I advise the gun. Best loads in my Winchester M-70 CRF 24" bbl. H-335 75gr=2150fps AC-2230 73.5gr=2186fps Varget-74gr=2152fps Win brass, Fed 215 primers, Speer 500gr AGS. Average five shots across the screen @ 15' and corrected for velocity. Elevation: 8200' Temp: 85F Wind: Lt/var Sky: Scattered First choice is AC 2230, then H-335, then Varget. The AGS bullet is shorter than most of the other manufactured 500 grainers. Consequently, powder capacity as listed poses no problem in my rifle. Best, JLS
