I have some 225 gr Barnes X bullets that I need a load for in my 338 Win mag. I can't find any reloading data on line for the X bullets. Anyone have any suggestions? Also, I thought I read somewhere that they like to be "jumped" a bit. Any truth to this? thanks for the info.

It's been a while since I loaded any, but I'll check my box of bullets for details and get back to you tommorrow.

I use from 67 to 70 gr of AA XMR 4350 with a Fed 215 primer .

OAL 3.320=/- seated to the top groove in the bullet.

70.5 grains of IMR-4350, CCI mag primer, WW cases with 225 grain bullet gives me 2800 fps and great accuracy, I'd have to check the OAL but it would be different in your rifle.
Good luck.

Tried x's in my 338 Win Mag a long long time ago and after 5 different powders and 20 different loads it came out to 3"to 6 1/2 " at 100yrds. The gun would do 1 1/4" all day with BT's and 200gr Hor.Sp at 100yds and 3/8" with 275gr Speers at 50yds. Stock up on copper remover.

Fat Albert I'm guessing if it was a long long time ago you used original barnes x's. The new TSX's are a whole new ball game as far as accuracy and minimal copper fouling.

72.0 gr of IMR-4350, 225 gr X bullet, Win brass, Fed GM mag primer. The load was safe in my Tikka, but work up to it in yours. Very accurate - 5/8 to 3/4-inch, 3-shot groups.

my best with the 225's was with Norma MRP 74grs with Win LR Mag primers in WW cases. COL was 3.392 in my Mdl 70, Very accurate. Also had good luck, but not quite as accurate with 75gr of IMR7828. This load was compressed to much for my liking but didn't show high pressure in my 338 Ruger No. 1 ut was excesive in the mdl 70. Every rifle is different so be careful!
