I got out to the range Sun. to put the finishing touches on my new .280 loads before the hunting season. It is a light weight, custom M70 CRF w/ 23" bbl. & wood stock. The range was 300M off the bench w/ no wind. The group went 1.3". I have shot this load many times @ 100M w/ about the same results, 1-1.3". I was pleasently surprised. It seems to be more stable @ distance. 160gr Nosler Part. 57.5gr IMR7828 RP cases RP 9 1/2 primer The load shoots even better w/ Speer 160gr SP. Velocity is 2875fps +/- @ 50deg. I'm ready for deer/elk!! [ 10-10-2002, 05:00: Message edited by: fredj338 ]

56.0 of IMR4831, Rem 9 1/2 primer, RP case and a 150 partition is my "universal" load for my Wby Ultra Lt Wt in .280 Rem. I have taken three elk and a mess of deer with the 150's at from 2900 to 3050* fps at the muzzle. *My other .280 (which I just converted to an AI) has a 26" barrel so it does a bit better than the shorter 24" tube on the Wby. Reloader 19 works well too with the 150's but IMR4831 seems to give me a bit better accuracy at 200 yds and appears to have less velocity deviation shot to shot too. I like the medium to heavy weight bullets in a hunting rifle, I'm not a big velocity fan. Someday try the 175 partitions with IMR7828. Both of my rifles shoot them at 2700 fps or a bit more, but with very nice 200 yd groups. A great penetrator too. FN in MT
