Have been trying some test loads with a couple new powders that don't have either powder maker or bullet maker suggested loads. Thought I would share them. My 9.3x64 is built on a 98 mauser and I cannot get anywhere near the max loads listed in the Nosler manual (compressed way too much for me). Using the 286 gr Partion and the 293 Tug bullets I found that 67 grs of 4320 was max and gave very good groups. IMR 4007 is listed as between 4320 & 4350 and RL17 is supposed to be slightly faster than 4350. Since both RL17 & 4007 are slower than 4320 I started with the max load of 4320 as the start load for both powders ( 67 grs). I worked up to a max of 72 grs with both RL17 & 4007 using 286 gr partions and 293 gr TUGs. The 72 gr load of 4007 is giving 3 shot groups under 1in @ 100 yds with the partion & the TUG bullet. RWS cases & WLR primers were used with all loads. These loads were safe in my rifle,no guarantees in yours. Max loads were slightly compressed. Hope this helps. | ||
