Three best loads after testing this bullet with several powder and primer combinations: #1. 64.2 gr Re-22 CCI200 primer Win. brass 0.6" groups for 5 shots at 100yds. Ave. Vel: 3,000fps #2. 66.0 gr IMR-7828 CCI200 primer Rem. brass 0.75" groups for 5 shots at 100yds. Ave. Vel: 2,993 fps. #3. 65.0 gr WXR CCI250 primer Win. brass 0.9" groups for 5 shots at 100yds. All measured over CED Millenium chronograph and shot through Browning A-bolt 26" barrel. This rifle is short throated and likes these 154 Hornady's lightly crimped and seated at 3.270". I also tried H-1000, IMR-4350, IMR-4831 and H870 powders. H870 was the worst and would not group less than 5-6" regardless of powder charge or primers but it was worth a try. Best accuracy with most powders tested was at or near 3,000fps. The first three loads above all shot MOA also at 250yds. Any of the three should do fine for hunting deer, hogs and even elk. 162 Hornady's are my next project! Any suggestions welcome! BLR7

BLR7, your choice of Reloder 22 and IMR 7828 with a bullet in the range of 150 grains seems to square well with the report published by Ken Waters in a 1997 issue of "Rifle" magazine. In that article, he found that the two most accurate loads in his 7mm Remington Magnums featured either IMR 7828 or RL22 with a 150-grain Ballistic Tip. He went on to rate 7828 and RL22 as the best powders for that cartridge, along with Vihtavuori N165.
