Boss, I have used both of those powders and ended up with AA1680 23gr. Nosler BT 40gr molly. At a speed of 3730fps and .25in groups in a 24in Rem. 788 factory barrel. Used that same load in three 222's and all liked it.
Boss, I use 20 grains of H4198 and a 50 grain nosler or the Hornady 53 grain match bullet in a 222 Remington varmint special and 3 shots at 100 yards from the bench rest will look like one hole after I get through shooting. For things like coyotes and cats I use the Noslers. I cant's say about the Hornady bulletes cause I just play with them as they are a little cheaper.
You're on the right track with those two powders. If for any reason neither one works to suit you try H-322. One of those 3 has to work in the 222. If you get looking for a different bullet I've had great luck with 50 gr Sierra Blitz bullets in the 222. Been shooting them for over 30 years. I've tried other bullets but the combination of the accuracy in all my 222's, good performance on groundhogs, and a reasonable price keeps me using them.

FWIW these two loads were used at the 1962 NBRSA matches with great success: 23.0 IMR3031, 53gr Sierra match bullet 20.3 IMR4198, 53gr Detsch match bullet I have used both loads in the 222s that I have and they are very accurate. I use Berger 52grs in place of the Detsch's. Another highky accurate load for me is 24.3gr BLC-2 under 52gr Berger match. I always use flatbase bullets and Rem 7- 1/2 BR primers. The 222 is a great round.
