I would be interested in everyone's feedback on what their favorite 7mm Rem. Mag. load is for Medium-game (deer, antelope) and heavy-game (elk). Factory load and/or reload recipes are greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I like the Hornady 154 gr with 65.4gr of IMR4831 for deer. I haven't hunted Elk but would probably use a 175 nosler Part.and RL22

My all-around load for deer, elk, and antelope is the 160 gr. Nosler partition, Win. brass, Fed. 215 primer, and 71.5 grs. of H-1000. Velocity is right around 3,000 fps. Another load that has worked well on antelope is the 162 gr. Hornady BTSP, Win. brass, Fed. 215 primer, and 73.0 grs. of H-1000. Velocity is about 3,025 fps. I use these loads in a Rem. 700.

I like to use the Factory Hornady Custom 139gr bt, I get 3200fps from my Model 70, and every deer has been slammed to the ground, never recovered a bullet.

My favorite fodder for the 7 magare as follows;
175 grn hornady interloc over 62.5 grns of IMR 4831 ,never chronoed but on my good days it would stay inside an inch, bad days,1.25.
162 grn Hornady ILBT,over a pile of H-870(can't find my old notes, but it was cold day in november load only if you get my meaning)1.75 inches at 200 yards.]
Federal Premium 165 boat tails into a 100 yard, three shot group that you could cover with a dime.
Could not see any point in using any lighter bullets in the 7 mag,IMHO

Yours in the outdoors

Win cases, Ruger 77 SS, 140gr Noslet BT, Federal 215, 62 gr VV165 = 1/2 MOA

Same cases, Same rifle, Speer 145gr Match, Same primer, 64 gr vv-165= 3 in 1.5" at 300 yards.

This is the load I worked up for a friends rifle (Ruger 77RS 24" barrel).

Rem cases
Win WLRM primer
61 gr. H-4831
160gr. Speer Grand Slam

This is the only rifle he owns and shoots both elk and deer with this load. It shoots around 1.25" in his gun and is a proven killer for him.
FWIW!
Elk Country
