I am a sucker for any 220 Swift and, as a result, I have six of them in their own section of the safe. Over the years, I've owned many and one load that is accurate and fast in all of them is: 55gr Nosler for varmints 53gr Barnes TSX for deer/antelope WW Brass --- always WW Brass WLRM Primer 41.5gr of H414 3,711 fps to 3,865 fps depending on rifle and bullet All rifles with this load will group under MOA. My 40X (most accurate) will keep groups in the low 3s @ 100yds, five shots. My pre64 Std (least accurate) = .80 MOA. Two of my Swifts have over 4,000 rounds and still maintain excellent accuracy. The TSX is a wunderbullet on deer and antelope. I've killed several big mulies with Nosler 60gr partition, but the TSX gives higher velocity and, IMHO and limited experience, better results. Two antelope have fallen to this load with TSX, both over 300yds. Too, the TSX gives minimal pelt damage on prime pelt coyotes and bobcats. This year prime bobcat pelts are bringing in excess of $300, so the pelt damage aspect is significant. | ||
