Straight out of the Hodgdon Data Manual #26 (1992) . . .
45 ACP +P -- 10 gr. Hodgdon HS-6 185 gr JHP
I like Federal brass and Federal #155 Magnum, Large Pistol primers. 185 gr. JHP Remington bullet seems to feed well in everything I own.
0.473" taper crimp 1.234" OAL
I go +/- 0.001" on these specs. No need to trim straight wall cases to length.
Gelatin tests show this to be an effective defense load. Hodgdon rates it 1162 fps in a 5" bbl. But I'm getting more like 950 fps in a 5" Springfield 1911 Mil Spec. Never have clocked this load in the shorter, match grade bbl. of the UltraCompact Springer.
Expansion of the Rem. 185 JHP at the 950 fps velocity is consistently remarkable in Gel and "wet pack" newsprint.
