I am just getting started on a 7mm RM barrel for my Blaser. Looking for accurate loads for 160 grain and 175 grain bullets. Any suggestions? Also if you have any extra brass...!

I have had good luck using H-1000 behind either a sierra 160 or hornady 162 a-max in my browning. Charge weight was 72 gr. which is above max in the current manuals. I used r-22 with a 175 partition for an elk load. Accuracy was good, but I now use a 338.

How much brass are you looking for? Nickle or regular?

Started shooting F-class with a Remington Police in 7Mag.HSM match(168SMK@2950) shot in the .3s as did 162AMax over 66gr H4831SC.

Sorry MFH I did not see your last sentence. Regular brass is fine, maybe20-30 pieces. I have 11 right now (range pickups!)
I hope to hit the range tomorrow and try some H1000.

In my 700P I use 64.5 grains of RE-19 and a Berger 168g VLD, Fed GM215M @ 2990fps. Nuts accurate but hot, if you are gonna try this load work up!

If you need 20-30 pieces of brass, I have some I could part with. I have that much in once fired PMC and possibly remington nickle. (both are resized and primed)

I also have some new federal nickle brass (primed) and some new brass with weatherby headstamp.

As to price, I could find a value for the new brass...on the once fired...whatever you think is reasonable.

Many years ago I had a Steyr Mannlicher in 7MM Mag.

I used IMR 4550 with 120, 140, 160 and 170gr bullets. This rifle would shoot 5 round groupps with any of them well under one inch at 100 yards. This was one of the most accurate rifles I have ever shot. Everything shot great.


PS. Yes that is correct, a 170gr bullet, it was the 170gr Sierra round nose.

RSS. The Nosler artitions in 140 and 160gr shot every bit as good as the Sierras of the same weight.


So, give IMR 4350 a try.

61.0 grains of Viht N165 under a 160 grain NAB was the slick trick in my 7mm RM. Not the fastest load in the book but damn accurate!

67.5 grs. of H-4831SC under a Sierra 150 gr. HPBT Match King at 3.29". @ 3000 outa 24" tube.

Savage 110 Tactical.

Never shot at 1000 mtrs. but at 600 you can ring the Plates all day long one right after the other with this load when you've got it dialled-in.

What is the material difference between SC and the non-SC?

According to Hodgdon's - nothing.

I've used H-4831 and then H4831SC from one load batch to the next and never noticed a Hill-of-Beans difference. I've never mixed the two powders but their performance appears the same. They are certainly two distinct granules - both in size & color; the H-4831 much longer than the "SC" version.

SC means "Short Cut" and is easier to meter from a measure.

Nosler Partition 175 grain

IMR-7828 66.0 grains

Winchester brass

CCI-250 Primers

Muzzle Velocity 15' from Muzzle 3060 fps

3 shot group @ 100 yards 5/8 " groups

This loads had worked for me in three different 7mm Rem Mags.

FC brass, FED 215 primers, 79.0 grains of AA 8700 (or WC 860) and a Nosler 162-grain Solid Base bullet seated ~.010" off the lands. One hole at 100 yards out of my LH BDL. Never saw a reason to shoot for group any farther than that, as the rifle is more accurate than I am...

Hmmm I have some AA8700 so I might try that load. However, my gun is right handed!!!!

A few years ago I had a Vanguard that shot .625 with the following

Sierra Game King 175
IMR 4831 59.5 gr
Fed 215 Primers

Going to have to try this load in my Tikka 7rm as well.

I have 4 & use Speer 160 hot core, 160 mag tips and sierra 160 boat tails with an over the current limit load of IMR 4831. Have killed a bunch of deer, hogs & elk with these loads. The bullets all work the same on game.

I know this sounds off-topic, but I would suggest getting a box of factory loads to shoot to start off with. It will give you 20 pcs of brass that's consistant, and once-fired from YOUR gun. I have also found that some 7mm RM rifles took quite a bit of searching on my part to find a load that shot as well as factory...so a factory baseline wouldn't hurt.
