I think its the Berger site, but it might be Hornandy. 1:12 twist in .308 Win. likes a bullet 168 gr. to 172 gr. US Army and Marine snipers, using Rem. 700, (M-24 / M-40A) evidently Schneider barrels, use a 175 gr. bullet. This for distance shots because they buck the wind and sustain velocity. Where I like it on the lands has no bearing upon where YOUR gun likes it on the lands. But Varmint Al likes his varmint loads about 0.003" off the lands in a tight chambering. http://www.varmintal.com/arelo.htm | |||

I shoot a Rock Creek 5R 11.27 twist, 26.5" finished M24 contour on a Rem 700. Berger 155.5's and Varget 47.7 in Lapua cases and CCi Br2 primers -.030 from my lands. Velocity is 2980 ft/secs in my rifle, SD's are single digit. Pressure signs appeared to diminish after crossing the 47.0 grain range.. compression evening out the ignition phase I guess. Load shot well enough in my first F-TR 600 yard match 194 - 8X. Record is 195 - 4X... Looking forward to this Saturday Member NRA, SCI- Life #358 28+ years now!
