I have a Remington 722 in 308 with a 1-10 twist. Have been using R-P brass, CCI-200 primer, 41.0 grains IMR3031 and a Speer 150 grain spitzer soft point #2023. Accuracy is very good and it works fine on deer.

For the 308 Win with 150 gr bullets I find that IMR 3031 is just right. You may be able to use more than 41 grs also. I don't think the twist will matter much at all. If I had a choice I might select the 1-10 myself. When the bore wears a faster twist may work on and on.

Speer 150g BTSP, 44.5g IMR 4064, CCI Reg LR primer, Remington brass. Shoots consistent 0.50" to 0.75" groups at 100yds from my Rem 700 BDL. Took 2 whitetail with this load last year, dropped 1 in his tracks at 125 yds, another from 325 yds ran less than 50 ft before dropping.

For long range I use Varet 47.7 gr. Lapua brass Fed210m and the Lapua Scenar 155 gr. bullet. Conographed velocity average 3026 fps out of rem. 700 PSS with 26 inch barrel. I have gone to 48.5 with a velocity of 3069 fps which is max in the #5 Nosler manual. they were able to go 3001 fps with their 150 gr. bullet in a 24 in. barrel. The 155 Lapua Scenar has a b.c. of .508 Which puts the .308 on par with the 190 gr. Serria M.K.(b.c..533) out of the .300 win. mag. as far as trajectory and wind deflection is concerned. I'm able to dial my scope(M3LR 30 mm Leupold) form 100yds to 1400yds with no hold over in a .308 win... No small feat! With this bullet the .308 has become my new favorite 1400 yd rock and rodent plinker!!

Anybody try h414 in there 308 yet. I have and I am very impressed with the accuracy and groups that I get with 165 grain Nosler partitions.

Bang. I use W-760, which a lot of folks feel is the same thing as H414, just different lots of the same powder. I have three Ruger 77 RSI rifles in .308 and that is the only powder that has worked worth a damn in those rifles. FWIW, they absolutely hate 180 gr. spitzers of any kind, but round nose bullets (Sierra 180 gr.) are close to being one holers. I worked up a reasonable compromise load for the guns using 49.0 gr. of W-760 with the 165 gr. Speer spitzer flat base bullet which will deliver 1.25 to 1.50" groups depending on which of the three rifles I'm shooting. velocity is 2550 FPS from the 18.5" barrel, and from a 22" barreled Win. M70, velocity is 2610 FPS. That load is max in one of the rifles, but has proved safe in all my .308 rifles. If you think 2550 FPS is to slow, well, the load did drop a nice mule deer at 250 yards, laser measured. Bullet hit the deer in the chest as it faced me and lodged against a back leg bone breaking that leg. I would have no problem using that same load on elk withing 200 yards or less.
FWIW, I was comparing that load from my M70 with the Speer Nitrex load with the same weight bullet (165 Grand Slam) and impact of both bullets resulted in a 1.5" group. I fired ten shots, five of each at the same target, and there was a nice neat round group. I'm seriously considering using those loads for a cow elk hunt this fall.

Try Varget, Win 748, and IMR 4064. They all shoot great in mine, but I've pretty much settled on Varget for most everything any more.

For bullets, you can't go wrong with the Sierra 168 gr MatchKing.

BTW, you don't specify what you want to do with it. There is some "controversy" over using the SMK for hunting, so you'll have to make your own call there. But for targets and pure accuracy, you definitely won't be disappointed.

In 308 you can't go wrong with Vithavouri N-140.
Put 43 grs grs of powder behind a 165-185 grs bullet and you will probably have a 0,5 moa rifle with good bullets.

A friend of mine did some serious testing of 308 match bullets some years back( 5000 shots) with different powders and bullets.

Best combo,168 Sierra MK, 43 grs N-140. On average in 4 guns 27,8 mm 5 shot groups at 200m range. Replace the MK with a Interbond or Scirocco you have a load that works all year with amazing accuracy. You also have almost identical trajetory with both bullts.

42grs. RE15 and the 168MK will or should work very well, as it has in a buddies 700P, first group he shot with it produced a group in the high 3s for 5 shots, I also love the powder for my 7mm08, Jay

If you need a accurate load, in my rifle these loads group less than .50" at 100 yards.

165 GK or 168 Sierra MK
IMR 4895 @ 43.6
IMR 4064 @ 43.5
Fed 210 GM Primers
Fed GM Brass

Both loads duplicate the Federal Gold medal match load.

Varget @ 46.0
165 GK/ 168 MK Sierra
CCI BR-2 primers
Fed GM Brass

150 Nosler BT/ 155 Sierra MK
46.5-47.0
same primer and brass

You increase your accuracy a little with Lapua brass, but I have found VARGET prefers CCI BR2 primers in my SSG-69. Varget is the powder of choice for the US Palma Match Team in their 308 Win. You can not go wrong with this powder in the 308 Win. COL the MK @ 2.80" and hunting bullets @ 2.79".

VARGET
175 sierra MK - 45.0
180 Nosler Part- 44.0 (My hunting load)

Reloader 15
44.0- 180 Nosler part
Fed 210 match
Fed GM Brass

HI,
I have discovered that 42gr of AA2520, Win brass, Fed GMM primers, and 175MK seated to 2.82 gives me a 3-shot group of 0.41 (center-to-center). The Sierra accuracy load for the 168gr MK works well too(around 3/4"), though the velocity is a bit low.
