wingnutHelp me save time, .25/06 suggestions
Recently acquired a Ruger 77 in .25/06.
Will be using the Nosler Ballistic tip , 115 gr., for smallish deer in Deep South, U.S.A.
Have on hand IMR-4350, RL-19, RL-22.
Your favorite TESTED recipes for these or other powders, please.

South40H4831SC is a very good powder for the 25/06. I use 52 gr with 117 grain Sierra Game Kings and get good velocity and very small groups. I'll look up the velocity when I get home and post it later.

<GilaMonster>I have taken about fourty big game animals with a 25-06 Rem using 56g IMR 7828 and the 115g Nosler Partition. It produced more velocity than any other powder I tested and grouped better also. This was a maximum load in my rifle and i would start a few grains below that and work up from there. My youngest son uses the same load in his also. The best load I've found for the 25-06 Rem. The bullet also performs better than any of the others I've tried on game at all distances. The bullet has great penetration at extended ranges, but doesn't come apart at close distances.

<don>I use a nosler balistic tip 100 grain behind 56 grains of R22. ***Warning this is a verry hot load work up from 54 grains. Look for pressure signs and be careful. This is a great antelope and whitetail load but i have only shot it at 150 yards to 350 yards at game. It may not work as well close range. Groups in my 700 BDL 24 in bbl rem are 5/8 3 shots @ 100yrds.

<qhorseman>I also like H-4831SC. I'm shooting 53 grains, using CCI mag primers behing 117 Hornady SST's. This load is very hot, but shoots at an MOA in my Rem 700.
