I used to load a lot for this great cartridge when I had a Sako AV and Winchester Sporter. But then....I developed higher pressure loads for those actions.

I am not familiar with the Blaser rifles. Will it handle modern calibers at 60,000 PSI+ or do we need to keep around the 54,000 PSI pressure.

I would suggest that you first confirm this. If it is meant only for low pressure ammo, then any standard manual will give you 140 gr bullets at 2600 fps & 160 gr bullets at 2400 fps. You could do 120 gr bullets at 2850 fps.

good luck.

Make up your mind, do you want flatter trajectory or do you want to use the reduced "swedish" version of the 6,5x55 load data.

What you are asking for is an oxymoron.

Nakihunter,
The K95 Blaser is chambered for high pressure rounds such as the 300 Win mag. and Weatherby rounds..

londonhunter,
In Rifle Magazine #247 there are a loads for a Berger 140 gr.VLD.. The highest vel. load was 2765 fps with 47 grs. of Rl-22.. These loads were fired in a Ruger bolt action..
I don't think that load will offer that much more of a flatter trajectory but who knows..

Here are some links to 6.5X55 data:

My pet load:

140gr Hornady SP Interlock
46.5gr RE22
Prepped Lapua Brass (sized, trimmed, chamfered, primer pocket uniformed and flash hole deburred- with Lapua brass very little prep needed)
Fed 210 primer

Seat bullet to top of cannelure and give medium crimp with Lee Factory Crimp die.

Very accurate in my CZ 550 FS (less than 1 MOA) with superb terminal performance on WTs. Not a prairie scorcher but as always, work up with caution (no pressure signs noticed in my rifle).

Perhaps I did not make myself clear.

being a single shot break open rifle
I can only rely on primers signs for pressure
The rifle will break non the less unlike a bolt gun with pressure sign
I have it in writing from Blaser that it is proof way over 60,000 psi
I just wanted some other receipe thats all

Please don't make my life more stressful with this oxymorom business

If you can advise please do if you do not want to please leave the thread alone.

It's a free open forum my friend

Not trying to make your life stressful, but your were asking for flatter trajectory and one does not get this without getting higher pressure. I know many break-open guns are not that strong, so I thougt you should be aware of what you were asking. Thats what my advise was all about.

"Swedish mauser" is the designation of a low powered 6,5x55 load (typically produced and used in the US) but since the K95 is that strong you can obviously use full power loads. Here are loads made for M98 og stronger actions: 6,5x55 mauser 98 +

Anyone wanting weaker loads can use the upper end of the data marked "Krag" on the previous pages.

Tordenskiold, I'm possibly dozy, but I cannot get any use of the interesting link you posted, since I cannot turn any page, neither I find any upper left-hand corner arrow; would you be more precise?

The only Hodgon powder used is the H4831 but there are no "s/c" markings - is this a different powder?

H4831 - 140 np:
col=78mm
start: 46 grs - 2568fps
max: 48 grs - 2678fps

(Norma MRP is the best powder for this bullet with 49 grs max for 2770 fps)

H4831 - 155 Lapua Mega:
col=74,5mm
start: 42 - 2351fps
max: 44 - 2476fps

(MRP is best for this bullet also, 46 grs max for 2614fps)

H4831 - 160 Hornady RN:
col=78mm
start: 46 - 2445fps
max: 48 - 2563fps

Tordenskiold,
s/c stands for "short cut".. The s/c version is the same as the reg. version except it runs thru the powder meas. easier.. It looks like if I want higher vel. that I'll have to find some Norma MRP..
And again thanks for the data..

Work up, but if you want to put the old supercharger on the 6.5 x 55 with a 140 grainer...

IMR 4350.. 47 grains

H4831 SC...51 grains

RL 17..... 47 grains..

remember tho, work up...

I can vouche for these loads in my rifles only..

a Ruger factory 6.5 x 55
a Model 70 with a custom barrel
a 1920 Production Carl Gustaf

That powder will be way too slow for the 6.5X55. Even N560 or N165 would be too slow. I have had great results with N160, H4350, Re 19 & IMR 4831. These were very good with 125 Nosler, 139 Hornady or 160 Hornady bullets. I found Re22 velocity increase was not good at the top end.

Though break action rifles are strong, they are known to be difficult to open with high pressure loads. I would suggest that you chronograph your top loads to see if you get 2950 fps with 125 gr, 2750+ with 140 gr &2600 with 160 gr bullets.

Good luck.
