245 grs hard cast lead Keith type :

+ 10.6 grs VV N 340 ( ~ PMC factory load, not full power, but fine shooting )

+ 8.5 grs Unique ( plinker, but would not hesitate to use it for self defence )

+ Alliant 2400 with standard primers - will try this in automn?

Have fun! Hermann

tundrarules - I shoot the 240gr XTP from a S&W 629 7". My accuracy load is 23gr of H-110. This nets about +/- 1420fps.

Ditto Zero's load (23.0 H110, I use magnum primers). I used to load 21.5 gr H110 until I got Hodgdon's manual, they warn against downloading H110 (23.0 is minimum recommended for 240 gr JHP/JSP, 24.0 is max).

Had extraction problems with 2400.

All full power loads. Work up to these. I use all of these in my Ruger .44Mag SRH.

240 grain Keith Semi-Wadcutter on top of 22.0 grains of 2400.

240 grain Hornady XTP on top of 24.7 grains of W296

300 grain Hornady XTP on top of 20 grains of W296

300 grain LBT WFNGC on top of 21.5 grains of W296

The loads I use in my 7-1/2" Ruger SRH 44mag. is 320gr. WFNGC from Cast Performance using 21.0grs. of WW296 with a CCI 350mag. large pistol primer and Federal cases. I get 1300fps. with an extreme spread of 14fps. This load shows no signs of high pressure in my gun. This is my heavy timber elk load. Target and small game load is a 200gr. Laser Cast RN with 7.5grs. of Universal Clays with a CCI 300 large pistol primer. This load is traveling 750fps. I have heard a Hornady 240gr.xtp's with 24.7grs. of WW296 and a CCI 350mag. large pistol primer works really good on deer. I haven't tried them yet.
