700 VLS shillen trigger 24XBR leupold shoots .385 groups at a little over 3200 fps. the 70 balistic tip with 46 gr 4064 is as accurate at over 3500 but not as good of an all around load. i like 1 load that works for everything i use a certian rifle for and the 87 gr. load covers all the bases for this rifle.
I like 45.3gr. IMR 4831 under a 100 gr Hornady,Rem brass, Fed 210M primer 3/4" at 200 yds. 52.5 of H380 under 55 gr Nosler BT, 3950 fps, and 1/2" at 100 yds. is my other load for my Rem BDL

Just for the record, we are talking about 6mmRem. cal. aren't we? I too enjoy this cartridge and use it for coyote hunting here in Texas. I have been interested in the 87gr. Hor. bullet you mentioned but until now had no loading info. I have some bullets and now if you are in fact talking about a 6mm Rem I have a load to try. Thanks

I agree with you 100%. I have used this cal. since 1970 with success in hunting coyotes etc. But use a 45-70Govt for deer. I stopped varmint hunting about 1978 but started again just recently to help a rancher friend who is has coyotes on his ranch attacking his young calves. The old 6MM Rem. is still a champ!
rem. 700 VLS,24xbr leupold, floated and glass bedded, shilen trigger at aboul 18 ounces. the load is 87 hornady bthp, 48 gr. rl 19 fed 210gm primers. they are loade out to touch the rifiling almost 3 inches. makes a single shot out of the gun but who cares.that was just one group,it avgs.less than .400.
I've had great luck in my old 722 with everything from 65 grains (Hornady V-max) to 85 grains (old-style nosler solid base) over a case stuffed full of old surplus 4831. Any primer seems to work fine with this powder. Couldn't get a 100 grain bullet to stabilize, although I've heard of other 722's in which they would. The 26" barrel on this gun really pumps bullets out with good velocity.

Im also a 243 fan - The most accurate load ever has been 45.5g RL22 with Nosler 90g Ballistic tip..... This will shoot constant overlapping holes at 100m... I was given this load by an old timer and have to say in my blue printed rem 700 it THE lighting bolt load!! I dont know the exact fps but should be over 3000
