This is aload I worked up for use on my 08 Wyoming elk hunt. I got the insperation for it from www.stevespages.com. I had always used RL-22 in my 338wm, but always wanted to give RL-19 a try. Glad I did.

Load:
<>75.5 grains of Reloader 19
<>225 grain Nosler Accubond
<>Federal #215 large rifle magnum primer
<>New never fired winchester brass neck sized only (approx 40% of neck), primer pocket uniformed in depth, flash hole deburred, trimmed 1/10,000s under if nessasary, case neck and inside of mouth de-burred and polished inside and out with 0000 steel wool.
<>Loaded cartrage length was set as long as possable and still able to feed reliably or about .125" shorter than magazine length.
<>Rifle is a M700 in stainless steel, synthetic stock with DBM.

Best 3-shot 100yrd group I shot with this load measured .388". The average of ten 100yrd three shot groups was .565" Shoots under 1.4" at 200
Although I never observed and sighns of pressure with this load in my M700, it is a compressed load so use it at your own risk.

Lastly I will add this load using 225grn Hornady Interbonds shot 99% as well, so my rifle likes 75.5grns of RL-19.

I unfortunatly do not own a chrono, plan on getting one though. My guess would be in the 2850+fps neighborhood.

What kind of accurizing have you done with your Rem 700?

I have a Weatherby Mk V in 340 Wby Mag, have left it stock so far, but am looking to improve on it, bedding and so on.

Sputster,
Except for having a compitent smith do a trigger job that set it at 3.5lbs with absolutely zero creap and over travel, nothing what so ever. The gun shot gr8 right out of the box.

I have only shot 10 factory rounds of ammuniton out of my M700. I still have the other 10 rounds of Remington Safari Grade ammo with 225grn Swift "A-Frames" sitting in their original box in a ammo can. I have the original target that I shot a 100yrd three shot group with the Rem ammo, it measures 1.2" C-C.

That load is very good in my model 70 too.
I didnt do so well with the acubonds but the hornady did just fine. My .338 is not as acurate as your though, but the point is RL-19 and 225 grain slugs are good together...tj3006

One of my favorites also, but with 225 partition. From the 21" bbl. of my .338 (my brush gun) I average 2865 fps. Groups average slightly less than 1 moa out to 300 yds.

velocity is like a new car, always losing value.
BC is like diamonds, holding value forever.
