i just finished working up "the" load for my 6.5x55. i ended up useing hornady 129 grn bullets, rem cases, rem primers, and 45.5 grns of IMR 4350. shoots right at 1/2 inch at 100 yrds. now i need a load for my 243. i'm going to use either hornady 87 grn spire points or 95 grn nosler partitions because thats what i have on hand. all suggestions are welcome. thanks...bud

budiceale. In 2 different 243 rifles my best loads were with 95 gr. nosler partitions and IMR4350. I found 40gr. to 42gr. to shoot very good all the way to 300yds.[that is the longest distance I ever shot the 243 on paper]. Start at 39gr and work your way up. The only 243 bullet I ever recovered was a 95 gr. nosler partition that struck a whitetail doe at about 175yds. in the front of the chest, it was found at home while processing the meet for the freezer. Perfect expansion and penetration. We have killed deer [mule and whitetail], and antelope as far as 350yds. with no problems. We also used Sierra 100gr. spz. with the same loads with good results.

I have used 4064 with the 75gr bullet, it shot very well. IMR 4320 has always given the best accuracy in my rifle. Accurate 3100 also works well with the 105gr Speer.
