I see widely varying recommendations for loading this caliber. I am shoting Ruger 77 Mrk. II with 23" barrel - 1 in 10" twist.

I'd like to develop loads for 200 and 225 grn. loads. Any suggestions are appreciated.

That book seems light; just start there and work up for your rifle like anything else.
I just started with this caliber a couple of weeks ago and like it; no recoil but lots of power. And I load for the 338 Lapua and RUM too; basically half the powder but 90% of the velocity. Something like that. Very efficient.

I found the 200 gr. bullet neither fish nor fowl, preferring to use it in my 30-06 or a 300 magnum in that you gain sufficient length of bullet as to SD..

The 225 gr. is a total different story, it was a marriage made in heaven on deer and elk, at least with most available bullets Ive used..I really like the 225 Accubond or partition for deer and elk, mostly elk, but where I hunt elk, chances of a monster Mule deer are always taken into consideration..I use a stiff load of RL-19 as a rule both for velocity and accuracy..RL-22 being my second choice..Ive used this combo on a number of elk. those two bulls killed with a 200 gr. Accubond in my fwt mod. 70 30-06, that worked as well as my 338-06 IMP or 9.3x62...As usual the 06 holds its own...

The 225 grain Sierra Pro Hunter is a very tough bullet and works great on Everything I've shot with it. Sometimes hard to get but worth it.
I took it to South Africa in my 338 Win Mag and killed Zebra, Kudu, Wildebeest, Warthog, Impala, Blesbok, Bushbuck. Recovered one bullet from the Wildebeest, all others were pass throughs.
That bullet weighed 206 grains after passing through more than 3 feet of muscle and bone.
In a 338/06 it would be good for anything.

Ive shot all the AFrican PG and two buffalo with a 338 Win. I like the 225 and 250 gr. Accubonds..So I suspect the 338-06 would do as well..but in my opine he 210 Nosler partition is a marriage made in heaven on big game of any kind in a 338-06 and the .338 Win. fits the 225 Accubond and heavier..

I have a similar rifle, Ruger 77 Mrk II with a 24" Shilen barrel. I struggled to find an acceptably accurate load. After trying damn near every .338 bullet made (slightly exaggerating) I found that 58.5 gr of IMR4350 and a 250gr Hornady Interlock round nose shot 1.5 inch groups at 200 yards giving about 2400 fps. Sighted dead on at 200 yards, its 11 inch low at 300 yards. I'm comfortable out to 300 yards. With that said, I hardly ever exceed 200 yard shots on big game. I have taken several deer and about 10 elk with this load when I lived in Idaho. None of the elk required a second shot. 338-06 is always an excellent choice.
