Anyone have any favorite or known accuracy loads for 300 savage? I am about to start load development for mine, I have a savage bolt action model 16.

I have 4064, 4320, varget, and 760 on hand.

Thanks.

I can't help you on the powders you have listed but 40gr of IMR4895 behind a 165gr bullet is a great load. My wife has taken moose, brown bear, and caribou every year for 25 yrs with her Rem 722 in 300 Savage.

I tend to use more than enough gun

Wow her m722 has probably taken more big game than most rifles out there.

I seem to remember reading in Ken Waters pet loads that some of his most accurate loads were with 4895, and he also recomended 3031.

I mostly have 125 and 150 grain bullets on hand to load it with. 125g nosler bt, and 150g sierra spt prohunters, and 150g sierra rn prohunters.

I have enjoyed hunting with the .300 Savage for decades. My pair of 722's shoot 150 grain bullets best with either Varget or H4895. I have settled on 43 grains of either with most 150 bullets...

I have a very old Sav 99, 26" bbl, takedown and I load conservatively to say the least. All the powders listed by the other posters do work well but I like CFE223, WW 748 and RL15 with 150 gr Nosler Parts at ~45KPSI in my 99 with CFE223 being the most accurate, highest velo and lowest pressure. My 26" bbl 99 beats the heck out of my 16" Sav 111 308 "truck gun", velo wise, with the same powder and bullet and matches my 20" heavy bbl Rem target 308. I haven't tried any of the newer Enduron powders yet, but 4166 sounds like it might work.

Basically you just have to try a few combinations to see what YOUR rifle likes. Hodgdon has lots of reloading data available and so does Reloaders Nest.

LUCK beer tu2
