| I took a 200lb hog with a 230gr Lyman 452490 and 8.4 grains of hs6 got complete penetration on a broadside shot. Piggy went about 15yds and expired. we hunted behind dogs on this one. Hope this helps. That load is a bit over max so use it at your own risk. |

| Thanks Harley45, I have some 230-grain copper covered flat nose HPs loaded over 4.8-grains of Tight group. Tested them and they shot very well. Went throught nearly 4" of wet phone book, after going through two very large pumkins. They feed well, and no stove pipes. I think that I will give them a try. |

| Try 7.2grs. of Unique behind the 230gr. bullet. This is slightly over book max, but Jeff Copper recommended it for defense many years ago and it shoots close to one-holers out of my MKIV '70 at 25 yds. I used to pull the heads on standard military ammunition, dump the powder and replace with Unique. The OAL with a 230gr. FMJ was 30.5mm out of my gun. |

| In one one of my para ordanance P-14/45 I modified for this particular load mods 18.5 lbs wolf spring throat reamed so the rounds would chamber note paras have fully supported chambers anyway the load is 250 gr hornady XTP 9.5 gr of winchester action pistol cci large pistol primer I do not have col in my notes but I seated bullets to crimp in the cannelures mv was 1040 avg this gives about 600ft lbs this load was a little hard on the gun and way over max but I fired off 400 minus the load development rounds and there mere no brass or gun failures since then I've dropped the idea of hunting bear with a 45 and do not use this load anymore. ps I do not recommend using this load and it is presented for information purposes only
HAVE FAITH IN GOD.

| 1996 ed. of Hodgdon Data Manual lists some nice +P loads for 45 ACP. I've been loading a 185 gr. JHP and 11 gr. HS6 for a listed 1192 fps.
But you want bigger bullets for hawgs. Data Manual lists them, but it's all the way down stairs and in the reloading room -- which is locked up. |
