I like a 60 footer MINIMUM! If that is to big "when things go wrong" you shouldn't be on the colt anyway.

48' is about perfect, any smaller and you are going to sooner than later run into hock, and rear end problems. You are going to use this training area a lot when you have it.

I like a small round pen, so I can get hold of him if I have to so 30 to 35 suits me..If I need room then we go to the pasture...One thing I want for sure and that is a solid pen so that he can't see outside and all his attention is on me...I also insist on an outward slope on the rails from bottom to top so he cannot drag my leg on the sides....
