Here is a pic of my new black molly mule. 14.2 and as black as coal.

So far so good. Here is a mule that really craves attention. Gentle as a dog on the ground but still a little nervous in the saddle but then she is only 7.

Pretty good mule.

I like the mule, spent a lot of time riding a big black one about that size as a kid. If you'd like some constructive criticism, try shortening your stirrups a bunch, so you sit on your pockets more. You'll thank me for it after a long ride.

It is pretty common, most somewhat casual riders have their stirrups out too long. Do me a favor, try it, then tell me later I was right.

Cowboys call it sitting on your pockets.

You done told me that before!

And I's done told youds that I's wasn't gonna do it. Shortnun them stirrups makes my old knees hurt and I could hardly walk after ridin until I got dem flat bottom crooked stirrups.....

Just kidding but you have suggested shortening the stirrups before. I've tried that over the years but it just doesn't work for me.

But then all I know about riding is what is inscribed on the top of the saddle horn:

"Try not to fall off." Smiler

Yep, a bow and arrow. I think it's to remind me that when my butt hits the saddle that mule is flying like an arrow!

I guess in your case you'll either have sore knees of a sore a**!
Good looking mule. My dad had one that he coon hunted on, we rode it double across the Grand River and he fell through the ice, but it was only about -10 F. He finally made it to the other side, then we had to ride him back across to get home. He was about 14 hand black mule, we also used him to work cattle in an old lot that was full of wire. It would have cut a horse's leg to pieces, but a mule just kicks out of wire like a calf, has thicker skin, I guess. He was trained to jump fences, for coon hunting at night.

Good looking mollie Bill! You are right about them still being a little lively at 7 years of age. My 6 year old molly is NOT something I would want a young rider to get on but the flip side is she is tough as nails and still has enough energy to fly up a steep logging road when I start crinkling the pop can in my pocket or running the zipper on my coat up and down. The young ones to make for interesting rides, that is for sure.

I moved the stirrups up one hole 'cause the new mule is so rough riding!

Will has a habit of coming up with those really nice, well broke, and good looking mules..

When I get old then I'm going to sell my rope horses and get Will to find me a good mule that I can hunt on...
