Came apon this site looking for some reload info and found the horse forum. A little intro.. I've been riding the high country of SW Alberta for a little over 20 years. A good friend got me going and the addiction started. One can never have only one horse and a back up or two never hurt, well maybe the pocket book took a hit. Here's a little sample of my crew, and some country they take us to.

daniel77 this buckskin caught my eye when he went up for sale as a 3 yr old. He's a big boy at 16'3, quarter horse with a little morgan back in his line. One of the biggest and stongest I've owned that's for sure. I send him out, third year now, with a guy I know to be used for 2 months of calving. He gets lots of miles and is his go to roping horse for that time. He comes back in top shape for me to start the spring season in the mountians. You can ride him bareback and bridleless anywhere at anytime useing just a small section of his main like a toggle switch. One of the rare ones that is way wiser than his years dictate.

Yep - I like your Buckskin gelding too, looks like a real solid boy.

I have a Buckskin Q/H filly here, just 2y/o and not started yet (thats my easter break job) that I have high hopes will turn out a bit like your guy. She won't quite make the size and weight of your boy, I'd say she'll get to 16 hh, and she has a great temperament, one of the nicest horses I've had on the place in years, she's quick and fiesty but not spooky or dirty . . . now if I can just do as good a job as Daniel in starting her !!

She is blind in one eye but that hasn't been an issue so far, it'll be interesting to see how she goes under saddle and in the high country. If she has issues well then I have a great brood mare with impecable bloodlines (well as good as you can get down here anyway).

Cheers - Foster

Just went and picked up my Buckskin (Barlow)on Saturday. He's coming off to months of calvig and is in stellar shape to start putting miles on in the mountians.

I found that fine guy floundering out in one of the shelters yesterday trying to get up. It took a little but I had him up and called my vet while I tried to keep him upright and mobile. 3-1/2 hours later I couldn't punish him any more and had him put down. Vet told me that colic had taken a higher percentage of horses this spring than it normally does.
