I see so many really nice rigs built that should have been Full Association trees but on those worthless Wade trees and Squaw Tits hung on them . Is THIS a BUCKEROO FAD? What a waste of good leather. A saddle is supposed to have swells not TITS. Thats for something else like cows or girls. Not COWBOYS.

Shoot first. Never trust horses or women and very few mules.

Very interesting ...Tit-le; I rode a horse for a short time but must guess in stead of smooth padding on the saddle it is more like an egg-crate design? Being a new guy in these parts, is this the left handed Monkey wrench quest? If not indecient...can I see some pictures? Just curious- slowhand47

Squaw tits are bucking rolls which have been added to a slick forked saddle, which is a saddle without swells

And hats aren't supposed to be shaped in mailboxes, ropes tied off to saddles, or rubber on horns.

I really couldn't care less what kind of rig you have. Can you use it? That is the only question that matters.

I don't rope but use Wade saddles with tits. I think they are more comfortable than other saddles I have used (association trees, etc).

But it may be more my imagination than reality.

If security is what you want then an old Hamley or such with a 7" cantle and a huge, wide pommel are probably better than most.

Like the saddles that Hopalong Cassidy used. Or Tom Mix. Though Tom Mix was before even my time the high pommel/high cantle saddles he used makes it looks like a guy is pretty much glued in place using one of those things. And Tom Mix was the real deal. And survived.

In my naivete' I always figured it was a lot safer to stay in the saddle no matter what.

To start with an association saddle has one purpose and thats riding saddle broncs in rodeo, that is what it is designed for and still in use...It wothless as a using saddle, its stirrups are too far forward and it not designed to fit a horse in the same position as a using saddle.

A "modified association" tree is a nice all around saddle for anything..I use one for team roping with a 14.5 inch tree to keep me up front in my saddle while heeling roping steers.

A wade is the most comfortable of saddles as its designed not to spread your cheeks out, its a great saddle, and if you need a bit more security then squaw tits help I suppose, but swells are not a save all cowboys saddle, you can ride broncs or you can't, the sturrips are the best bet for staying in a saddle, just keep them in the right position and absorb the shock, a good grip on the saddle horn is a plus, but don't pull to hard, its a push pull technique..I have ridden some bucking horses, mostly colts in a Wade without squaw tits and with, its about the same..

I don't own a Wade tree saddle these days, but it certainly is a good saddle for what its designed for..those that bash it have not used one IMO, or the got hold of a cheapie, and any cheap saddle is a mistake IMO...You will see a lot of Wade trees in the big country of Texas, New Mexico, the pacific NW, Arizona and Nevada, its not a fad, its been around a long time...If you live in farm country its probably foriegn, as folks in East Texas don't have to ride 16 hours a day, so its not popular, besides those folks use cotton rope for cinches! rotflmo
