Here is what you can get when you move a John Linebaugh 475 Long --- if you are lucky like I was. She is 5 years old and only has 15-16 rides under her belt but she is going to be one of if not the best I have ever had.

Copper is the one you see all of and Elsie is the one to the right. Little Elsie is the toughest mule I have ever ridden but I bet Copper turns out just as good.

Great looking animal but, for those of us unfamiliar with mules, what do you like about her and why do you believe in her potential?
Thanks for posting.

She looks about, or almost, 15 hands. With that few rides I have to wonder what the future may hold. Smiler

Unless she is dead broke and dead calm, as in nothing bothers her ... bikes, machinery, motorcycles, guns, etc.

Is she all that and more? They COULD be pretty crazy at 5 years.

Congratulations.

You are right Will, she is just shy of 15 hands and she still has some growing to do. The thing I am most excited about with her is her mind and attitude. She is willing to go where ever we have pointed her so far and that means up and down STEEP stuff with limbs, logs, water 8' tall brush slapping her in the face, dog runnign under her feet etc. She is also been rasied by the guy who has her momma and she was imprinted at birth and loves being around people. That said, she is not spoiled or push at all, just would rather be in my compnay than anywhere else. Teh other little girl who's butt you can just see is tougher than nails, goes anywhere but she was not touched by a human until she was 6 months old and shile she will do anything I ask of her when we ride, she is not a personable little thing. Give her a job and she will whole heartedly do it but don't ask her to be your buddy or hip pocket type mule. The new one has a ton of potential and I really like how she is put together but like all of them, it will take miles and miles and hours of seat time to get her to where I want her. We will see tomorrow what she thinks of the chinks I bought from you! Smiler

Nothing makes me more jealous than some guy finding a great mule. Congrats.

I'm always searching for that perfect mule. Probably ain't gonna happen.

Have fun and safe riding with your new pet. Smiler

I am a sucker to read these mule stories. It makes the "Hope" that embedded in Obama look like a dead solid bet compared to the odds of any 5 year old Mule being the "one."
All this in fun guys so don't be too dismayed. My brother is still a mule man and I dearly love him and occasionally answer the phone when he calls from the hospital. Smiler
I remind him to carry a heavy enough caliber handgun to reach the mules heart from underneath in a single shot. It is hard to focus on follow up shots while being kicked in the head.
Best regards folks.

Addendum: Do you folks remember the Elmer Keith story of being bucked off a "project" horse and being dragged at high speed as his foot was caught in the stirrup? It took him 3 shots from a 45 LC to get the old boy stopped. He said the first two "just speeded him up!"
I think the aforementioned John Linebaugh 475 Long would do it in One! All of that went through my mind when I saw the story last night. Happy Trails to all who enjoy either Mule or Horse!!
