Well leave tomorrow for alittle over a week have afew friends showing seems strange not having a horse there this year. We have a pretty nice one set for next year so maybe. If we get a chance will be heading to Amarillo for the NFR Steer roping finals. We if anyone is showing know it's alittle late but good luck.

I haven't shown in an AQHA show for years,as I just fool with cutting horses now. What class do you show in? Just curious as horses are one of my other vices.

I started showing as a kid back in the 50's. My wife tells people if I'm not at the barn then I'm at the range.
I show roping horses now in the amt division and we have them shown in the open. It's funny how some of the cutting sires get are doing in the roping classes I'm kind of interested in a Playgun gelding he won the jr calf roping 2yrs ago and I've seen some nice rope horses by Dual Pep also.
I think the world show was down this year the gas etc is taking a toll. They started last year having some rope futurity got one in Tx,Az,Ca and Ks be good for the rope horse business. Well good luck.

I notice the same thing, a lot of cutting blood in the rope horses, particularly to heel with which makes sense to me. The fuel has taken a toll. I took my 3 yr old to the Missouri and Kansas Futurities and I'd say the numbers were about half, unfortunately I think it was the best ones that showed up. The cutting sires' athletic ability doesn't hurt in about any pursuit in my opinion. Of course I have some bias, I have always said there two kinds of horses, cuttin horses and just plain old horses!

Cutting blood is ok for heeling for most of us, but for a head horse I want speed and that is not normally found in the cutting horses..the running quarter is usually better for me.

My 5 year old that I am near fineished with on the heel end will be used on both ends within the next couple of year..He is Smart Little Lena on top and Jet Smooth on the bottom side. He is a well balanced horse and should be plenty fast and leans towards the cutting horse confirmation.

My 14 year old guilding is my all time best horse. He is out of a reg. stud and mare but the papers never made it, but I know his sire and mare and the ranch he came off of..but he is just a grade guilding that I have been offered $10,000 to a max of $22,000 for. He will die on this place,

He takes good care of this 73 year old old man. He ropes both ends and is NFR quality, but I'm not, so there ya go. I go to Arizona every year and rope every day for a month and get out of the Idaho cold..Won enough money last year to almost pay for my whole trip..thats good enough for me, but would like to get better or rather more consistant. Same with golf..
