We always kept our working stock shod as a rule. It kept them healthy when working cattle in bad terrain. The rest were in pasture barefoot. We rotated stock about ever six months. We used to run between 30 and 35 head of horses with a lot depending on how many head of cattle we had to work. I'll ride an unshod horse in pasture but hesitate taking them where there's hardpack or rock.

Let me understsand this you make statements about anybody who rides a barefoot horse isn't much of a cowboy also a barefoot horse will leave you afoot every time. From the sandhill to the gulf coast and in the marsh ground horses cann't keep shoes on so they go barefoot. Now you want to prove to your many followers but having a match roping with me that you are not a drug store cowboy that I called you and still think you are one. You may impress your many follows with your post but not me. I should be at the Perry and the other winner take all roping in Nevada this coming year so come play with the big boys. I normally don't rope in the money thing but that 100K at the Perry looks pretty good and 50K at the other roping. Keep us all posted as to how you do at the USTRC final I assume you are going since your into the money thing. I normally rope in Texas,Ok and Az so let me know when you are in these place and I'll come watch a real cowboy rope. I just rope for the fun of it now.

Tom,
On second thought, all this BS, is unworthy of both of us, Lets just drop it here and now, agree to disagree and let it go at that...

If you get up to the Elko Ruby Mountain ropings this winter look me up, and I'll buy you a beer or a cup of coffee, your choice...

Tom,
You cast the first stone, and your picking the fight..I will be at everyone of the Elko Nv. ropings this winter, I rope with my grandson, his dad and my daughter, and we might even be at a few in Texas and some around Ft. Sumner N.M, where I have a bunch of roping friends......

I just didn't like the insinuation, it was uncalled for.. I don't mind a disagreement but calling names is a cheap shot...so I suggested that you put your money where your mouth is and we'll see whos the drug store cowboy..

If you took what I said as an insult so be it. I took your calling for some match roping for big bucks like I should shake in my boots now as far as I'm concerned and this is my last words on the matter with you. The roping community is small so we well run into one another, my headers are professional ropers so when I back into that heel box I expect to catch and win there is no time to worry about anything else and thats the name of the game and the only thing that counts. To me it's the win and not the money, not too many ever remember how much money Speed and Rick won at the finals last year but they know Speed and Rick won the title. The right thing for you to do would of been to invite me up and ask to see what I got. Thats the real cowboy way of doing things.

Hello:
Let's not get testy here. We're not talking about Bush versus Kerry. The experts I've talked to agree that shoeing is something to be regarded as a necessary evil, the only question is when it is warranted.
