He's talking about the NFR. They have been talking about moving it from Las Vegas.

The news yesterday indicated they had cut the cord and were moving to Florida...That would be the dumbest move in rodeo history, they need to pull their head out of the darkness and stay right where they are at all costs IMO.

or go to either OKC or Ft Worth.

Back to OKC would be my first vote---but Will Rogers in Ft Worth is one hell of a venue. Might be scheduling problems with the NCHA there.

I heard from voting member that it was moving to FL that was Monday morning after finals and PRCA site had that up.

It's was all about money and payout each go round if you won all ten that was $500,000. If you won all 10 now pay be less than $200,00.

Vegas all about bring in the dollar same time as the Rodeo Finals there having at South Point "World Series Team Roping Finals" and total money pay out was more than finals. I would bet PRCA looking at that comparing to what they get and I would think the Rodeo finals are bring in more money.

Follow the money is the inevitable path of professional spectator sports not matter what they are. Florida has lot's of money I guess. Well at least it is warm there and lots of misplaced Westerners already live there. For me it will always be OKC and Fort Worth behind that. I love riding in the gate at OKC. It's like a trip to paradise.
Saw Trevor Brasile on Fox and Friends showing some Fox people how to rope a dummy. He needs to go to Washington DC next... They badly need a lesson. He might want to take Roy Cooper with him because I am pretty sure the dummy needs to be roped and tied quickly! I'll bet Roy would come back for that run.

Well, PRCA like any other business now just shopping the Florida bid and see who's interested.

When I first hear it, it was done deal then it changed to rejecting Vegas offer to the Florida bid but they never signed the offer.

Hard to say what there going to do.

Sorry, to me, Florida is geriatric snow birds out in the sticks. Big Grin Wouldn't make any sense to go there. NFR are a big thing around here, locals go for other Vegas attractions as well and it's just a couple of hours away. Would lose a good part of the Canadians who support the local talent.

The problem is a National Finals champion in any event, over the year, will pocket about $100 to $175,000, A PBR bull rider, J.B. Mooney, to be exact pocketed a million-eight hundred thou...lots of difference there..

Sooo, Florida up and offered more money to the contestants, much more. Well, the Vegas big shots are pocketing literally billions, and perhaps it's time to share the wealth, so they need to poop or get off the pot, it can't be their way or the hiway anymore, if they do not counter offer a better deal its Florida time...Those guys deserve better than Vegas is offering, its a tough sport and it can wipe you out with a single ride, and who supports the wife and kids? Welfare I suppose..

All athelets should make enough to feed the family in the case of serious injury just like Baseball, Golf, Hockey, Basketball, and Football does if you can make the grade, if not then they must go to work elsewhere. Most of our successful athelets get about 5 million over a five year contract and some much much more, and almost to the point of being ridiculas from my point of vue, Also I might add that the injury count is very high in rodeo. The death rate is also high with one to several deaths per year, sometimes less hopefully.

Thats the rest of the story, who knows where it will go, but I will bet dollars to donuts the Vegas big boys are not going to give up this gravy train that brings in billions in revenue to Las Vegas in shoppers at the Christmas walk, Gramblers, touristas, and rodeo fans for 10 fun days..

Just my opine, but I'm pretty close to the subject on a daily basis, as I know many of the contestants and a few of them live right down the road..Idaho is a cowboy state for sure.

On the otherside of the story one wonders if Florida can pull in the millions of folks, the contestants are a sure thing, but thats not where the crowds are IMO..I hope they can work it out to stay in Las Vegas or Reno.

Is this just more bluff like the NFR going to Florida?

I'm sure the folks eating dirt in the arena aren't getting squat compared to the promoters.

Will,
I couldn't tell you who is bluffing but its certainly being negociated..

I have a personal opinnion and that somebody should be thinking Dallas as that is where the new All American rodeo is being held in March and 3 million is the pay out in one day and they are having the top 10 best in every event, and also some invitation ex winners and anybody..Its going to be awesome and its in Cowboy stadium, I am betting there will be no standing room from the box seats to the nose bleed sections, but thats not going to be my decision!! shocker

They'd darn sure better watch out. Anyone ever hear of the PBR? NFR titles are nice, but the ropers and barrel racers and bull riders make a LOT more money outside of the PRCA already.

These world class athletes have every right to take control of the sport they make their lives around! Only a handful can make a living going up and down the interstate trying to qualify for the big show. The family's that make this outstanding spectator sport are some of the finest Americans you could ever meet.

God bless Cowboys!

The contestents have all signed a petition demanding better treatment, the sponsors are making billions off them, and the cowboys want a square deal and they deserve it, my bet is th sponsors and the PRCA will buckle under this pressure are they won't have any contestents as all of them are on that list...

They can and will form their own new Assn., managed and run by the contestants themselves and the bull owners, just like the PBR did, and for the same reasons..and they can do it..All they want is a fair shake, and representation on the board as opposed to a bunch of money grabbing business types stuffing their pockets with gold...

IMO its cut bait or fish for the sponsors and the PRCA board. They may soon realize the are a board of nothing to rule...

They have allready lost the best bull riders, and the ropers sure don't need them anymore as they have the USTRC, Wrangler Assn. etc. A PBR bull rider can win as much in one bull riding as a PRCA bull rider can win in a year in most cases.

The National finals bull riding was a joke the last couple of years, their best bulls wouldn't even qualify for a PBR practice session..It was more like a horse race or lets call it a bull race, mostly high school and college quality bulls and a line of BS from the anouncers.

i think lot more going on with PRCA and non-sanctioned events and trying to control the contestant. Pikes Peak rodeo is non-sanctioned for the first time all because of non sponsor banner in arena during the rodeo for Cinch jeans which has home office Denver.

If you drive down 1-25 Colorado Spring see PRCA building west side of freeway just little south they have an arena. Spring/summer they have jackpot roping using USTRC system.

Guys running that rodeo told PRCA there going to put rodeo on non-sanctioned bigger payout and didn't need PRCA and PRCA told them it never make with without contestants. It's big deal for PRCA having non-sanctioned rodeo in their back yard and should of figured that out before.

You have a rodeo as well know as Pikes Peak or Bust go non-sanctioned won't be long before other decide if they need PRCA.

this is short Bio on who running PRCA
Karl Stressman
The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) announced that longtime Western industry leader Karl Stressman has agreed to join the PRCA as president and CEO of PRCA Properties and Interim CEO of the PRCA. Stressman has been involved in rodeo and the Western industry for more than 20 years.

For the past 12 years, Stressman has been director of event marketing for Wrangler Jeans and Shirts. In that capacity, Stressman has worked closely with the PRCA in promoting the sport of rodeo.

Wranglers is running PRCA

Be interesting to see how it all pans out. I'm bett'en on the contestants, its there game, its there butts out there taking the beating, and I'm not sure they need the PRCA, they can go it alone and find plenty of sponsors and the sponsors when push comes to shove will go with the contestants, or rather where the money goes. The PBR showed the PRCA it could be done and the PRCA laughed at them, big time mistake for the PRCA, will they ever learn.

Amen brother Sean!

Easter & Easter Cattle Co. had box seats in OKC all of my younger life. My parents took me out of school to go to the last week of the finals.

Have not been back but once since they moved.
